We as gunowners gasp when folks brand us as backwoods idiots with no brain to use and just wanting to shoot somebody as a right of some kind of passage.
The scope of drug us is much akin. There are someflks who will abuse sniffing gasoline---don't put me in that group because I think gasoline odors are plesant.
There are enough drug laws  to stop the use of  any mind altering product--to include alchohol---if laws were the answer---and they are not.
Human nature is the cause ofall of this---and in the extreme, human nature is the cause of all the pain and suffering caused by folks who are unable to/prone to/mentally unable or psychologically unable to handle freedom without abuseing it.
Folks---Think. There are tailgater who party hardy and enjoy the atmosphere but are not alchoholics and hardly a threat to peace and stability of a polite society.
Accidents happen for various reasons and the only way t stop all of this is at birth---if you can figger out who is going to go this way.
Blessings
TEXAS, by GOD

This needed to happen, and it's about time. This "war against drugs" is actually a war against society. Not against my "society"..

There are 55,000 people killed in the crime aspects of people bringing drugs into the US every year, a huge bureaucracy and police structure that is in the business of staying in business, a Mexican government that appears to oppose drug lords while happily profiting from the trade and not putting up any real barriers to drug traffickers, and a million arrests per year in the US for drug offenses.  It sure doesn't help when the U.S (the Obamanation)  furnishes the cartels with weapons that same administration is trying to take away from honest citizens.

Aside from being ineffective, the human cost is shocking. The human cost of all drug use is shocking...and unnecessary..

Any word on what the feds are going to try to do? Yes.the armed the cartels. A lot of federal employees depend on the drug trade for their own living.

Here are just a few crime news items:

These criminal activities and thousands of others are all involved somehow with Marijuana......  If I were to do another search and come up with hundreds of criminal activities involving, say...window glazing compound..It would be obvious then that where glazing compound is..there is crime.  Logic then would say ..lets get rid of glazing compound and find another, less harmful product to do the job;  They did that with CFC spray cans..why not this crime-related substance?

Not to be forgotten, other "crutch drugs" are even worse as far as crime is concerned..

It always amazes me when people assail pot legalization yet have no problem with the biggest neighborhood drug dealer of all...who also happens to be legal...your doctor. I'll bet if you compared street drug abuse versus perscription drug abuse the perscription drug abuse rates would dwarf street drug abuse. It probably ruins more lives and causes just as much crime too. Face it you can go to your doctor and usually get a script for whatever you want. I hurt my knee last year and I went to the doctor. I was worried that something was torn and wanted it checked out. I didnt ask for pain meds. They handed me a script for oxycontin while I was checking out. Theres a pretty large black market for oxy. Working in EMS I have dealt with perscription drug abusers frequently...more frequently than street drug abusers. About 5 years ago they added a drug called dilaudid which is a more potent form of morphine to our protocol. The first shift I worked under the new orders I got called to "severe abdominal pain" Based on exam and vital signs there was no "severe" pain.  The patient already knew we had dilaudid and "right before we got there the patients surgeon called and told the patient to tell us to give dilaudid" When I asked for the "surgeon's" phone number to confirm she "couldnt remember". So much for your dose of dilaudid sweetheart I am not dispensing it. The person got irate and forgot all about that abdominal pain. Dont worry about pot. far worse drugs are as close as your nearest healthcare provider.

I've known people who used pot.  None of them turned out to be worth a pinch of *hit.  Most of them are dead.  Not a single one of them could hold down a job.  But they seemed quite content to sit there in their little cloud of smoke.  I guess freedom means you're free to be dumb.

I've known people who use pot. Many of them are hard working tax payers, college graduates, even a cop or two, an electrical engineer, a mathmatician. I even knew an officer in the Navy that got high.

I've known people that drink alcohol. Many of them never... how did you put it? " turned out to be worth a pinch..."

And as far as cigarette smokers, I'd rather work with a none smoker any day unless I get to stop for smoke breaks as often as they do. Pissy pissed off bunch when ever they don't get their fix anyway. Same for dippers. Nasty habit.

Thank you for this Lakota.
When I hurt my back years back, I went to the VA. without even an x-ray or physical assessment, I walked out of there with THREE prescriptions of some pretty numbing (but fun stuff). I did some concrete work for a holistic physical therapist who diagnosed me with a simple pinched sciatic nerve. Gave me a quick one hour lesson on how to fix this without drugs, surgery, or endless expensive chiropractic visits. It took about three weeks (I was bad, I mean "pretzel man" bad), but I was out running, swimming and pulling a concrete rodd stick again in less than a month.

After seeing how bad off some of the old burnt out vets were at the VA (all they do is drug them up), I never went back. I felt guilty for being in there with something so minor.

If any of you have sciatica, I'll be glad to share what the "Hans Method" with you. (Don't smoke weed though, relief is only temporary, and dries you out-bad for back pain.)

  Finisher, save your breath;
Many drinkers turn out to be drunks, any smoking wastes time and money..same for dipping
Just because one is adverse to an illegal addiction...doesn't mean they are in favor of the legal ones..

It looks like Washington state is doing the same thing. This is now becoming a conservative issue because states are rebelling against the federal government in this way. The irony is simply funny.

And it's the progressive states and voter base that are doing it !  This will become very interesting over time and the mid terms may show us the whole picture.

Yeah! That too! It really is interesting because of the topsy-turvyness of it all.

well reality is some folks turn out smart and some dumb. pot has little to do with it in most cases .
Ever  tried  working  along  side  a   lifelong  pothead?  Nothing  more  than  walking  zombies in  my   opinion.

I have worked construction for 40 years , I have worked with drunks , pot heads , hard drug users , thiefs and murderers etc. To be honest I have seen pot smokers show up every day and work hard even run work and others as you decribe. I can also say the same about stright people.
Either way I'm tired of spending tax money on it. Up until the 1930's it was not a problem it was legal . And someone mentioned they had never heard of anyone doing well and smoking pot . Well the founding fathers did rather well  ;) ::)

**************
My experience is quite similar...murders, thieves etc. The tweekers tend to out work everyone else for a time and then they "peter" out. The potheads do well so long as it is a job in which they can just shift into auto pilot. But I've also known a few potheads who work circles around some of the youngsters.

Many youngsters aren't worth their salt these days when it comes to physical labor. I guess it's just a matter of work ethic and character.

It will take until 2014 or later for the government to write all the details (red tape) into the law.  In the meantime I look for the revenooers to kick up enforcement on the medical pot.  After all, they will have to find a new line or work and a new way to confiscate property if this keekps up.

From what I have seen, the surly drunks cause more trouble at work, home, and the neighborhood than any of the mellowed out people.
just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they are not watching you
