Next time run a real conservative instead of a phoney moderate, maybe you can draw some votes that way.

Oh crap!  Did Obama win Kansas by 1 vote?  I mean, I looked at the results and it looks like my state gave all out electoral votes to Romney, but somehow this must be my fault, right?

the guys most likely to defend our system of govt. understand it the least. It works on attracting support and votes not drawing a line in the sand and dareing others to step over it. Consertives need to understand what the majority wants and then come up with a platform that includes the needs and values . They need to educate the voters as to their goals not just business as always.

I'm sorry to say that mine did not. I knew this state's electoral votes would go to Obama when I went to the polls. I also knew my vote wouldn't do anything to keep  the Obama lapdog (family forum, can't call him what I really think of him) running for senator from being elected and it didn't. Voting gives me the right to bellyache about things. Fortunately my corner of the state is very conservative and all the local offices went the way I wished. At least my trip to town to vote wasn't a total waste.

Perhaps YOU don't get it. The Reps keep running neo cons, thinly disguised as moderates, and it Doesn't work.........the conservative base won't support it.

Meanwhile the left keeps running their most radical left wing candidates possible and they win. Because they are playing to their liberal base.

  +1
It is my OPINION that any adult over the age of 25 who believes that their vote counts toward the presidential election is either:
a) Ignorant to the ways of politics
b) Has their head buried in the sand so that they only feel the sand storm but never really know where it is coming from
c) So brainwashed by Public Education, Main Stream Media and Organized Religion that they can not see what is right in front of them.

So to the original poster, I doubt anyone here at GBO was a delegate so their vote only counted in the Beauty Contest part of it all and was not a factor in the outcome of the who got picked. Also if you think that there would have been a single policy change had the other evil gotten in then you most likely fall into (b).

I understand your point but this is beating a dead horse.

45-70 has it correct, the Rinos that still run the Republican party, along with the press that campaigned for Obama are the real problem.

Can not do anything about the press except call them the two-faced political hacks they really are but in two years there is another election and conservatives who wish to flush the Rinos from the Republican party can start then.

If Romney had campaigned against Obama the way he did against Santorum he might have won but when I saw how he campaigned once he had the nomination, steered by the Rinos he had running his campaign I knew a long time ago there was little chance he would win.

I'd like to send a big THANK YOU to the idiots who mominated Romney during the primaries. If anyone is to blame for last night it is YOU. Quit blaming the Libertarians. You are the ones who nominated a complete piece of garbage candidate who could beat the WORST PRESIDENT IN UNITED STATES HISTORY. You should all be proud that was quite an accomplishment.

no the blame lies with all of us for letting the political system run itself for years and years . We step back in and expect the leaders of the parties to hand power back . As voters we need to get back in control.

As I said, as long as the Rinos, and not just in Washington run the party, nothing will change.

I actually used to be in one of the campaign phone banks for Reagan.
I, and this was actually a no-no, used the line "do you want to get rid of the 55 mph speedlimit, then vote for Reagan" a couple told in different ways-- for that I will go vote.

In the past two elections we have had among all the primary candidates only three political conservatives, Duncan Hunter, Newt Gingrich and Michelle Bachman.
Santorum was a one topic- abortion rights- hack who I did not like from the get-go.

Hunter and Bachman were defeated the way most true  conservatives are, by being ignored by the press while Newt was/is his own worst enemy.

As long as press coverage determines who gets nominated, we are morons getting just rewards.

I like your Beauty contest comparison. That is exactly what most Republicans including most on the forum voted for........ a pageant winner. There were several running on the Republican ticket that would have made a better choice, but Fox and friends and the rest of the Liberal media wanted Mitt or Nutter G., and it was obvious by the time they were allowed on the tube compared to some of the others. When they did mention Paul or Johnson it was in a ridiculing way. Playing them down. (It worked)Most of the Conservatives (Republicans) on this forum were saying all along they didn't really like Mitt, but he was the only one electable, and we had to defeat the "Quote" Obomination................"WELL"

Will the Republican voters ever get it? You cannot out Liberal a Democrat! Quit trying!Vote only for real Conservatives that believe and vote the Constitution.I think nation wide only about 3% of us did that. IMO, the rest of you gave it away.

Romney got three million fewer male votes, at least O'Reilly said,  than McCain got. THAT has nothing to do with the leaning of today's educational system.
That lies on the shoulders of conservative politics period.

APATHY I believe is a word that fits well.

People are voted in to run schools, at least around here.

Well said IG.  The fact is, in my opinion, that the Republican party needs to stay with its core values, but be willing to move more to the center on some social issues that the general public does find important.  They also need to do a lot better job selling themselves to the American people.

Picking a more extreme right wing candidate would only make things worse.  By all means vote your conscious, but recognize that for a variety of reasons, this country has moved more and more to the left.  To those who say the election was lost because Romney was too middle of the road, well then, who did the most conservative voters vote for?  Obama?  This election cycle, third party candidates only made up about 7% of the vote, and a percentage of that was for extreme left wing candidates.  Romney still would not have won even if every voter who voted for a right wing candidate changed their vote to him.
