I think as the polling matures the picture will become clear that "the base" did not fall for the conservative whitewash thrown over the liberal they ran as a candidate.

Sure the "true conservatives" fell for it but they tend to not dig any deeper than the YAY OUR TEAM! Cheerleading or an "R" next to a name.

We should at least try real conservatism next time because this sure as heck ain't working.

There wont be a next time. I voted in the last free election of my lifetime last night. If there is an election in 2016 there will be so many newly minted "citizens" who's english speaking ability will begin and end with the word "democrat". There will be such a large number of new democrat drones that it will be pointless to vote.

The true conservatives were all run out in the primaries for one reason or another for reasons real or imagined. My man had a scandal started up about him. I do not know it it was real or not, but it got him out of the race for sure. I think he had a real plan to get us out of our bad economy and was very electable; at least until the scandals broke. But that is my opinion. The point is true conservatives can not make it. Mitt had to act conservative to win the primary, then back toward the middle to have any hope at the presidential race. There was a Senatorial race that the ultra conservative (Tea Party Candidate) got beaten because they said that they did not believe in abortion, even if raped...it was God's plan. He did not mean that it was God's plan to be raped, but it was God's plan to have a baby and it was a sin to kill it by abortion. The press said - see, he does not care about women other Republican candidates denounced him and a large percentage of the public recoiled in horror. The Liberals jumped on it with both feet. Of course this candidate did not win. The point is, real conservatives can not get elected because they are too "radical". However, it seems there is no such thing as a radical Liberal. To get elected these days, you need to lie. Obama said he would take care of our immigration problem. The Latino and Hispanics loved it. He did not put forth one change, but he got their votes, because conservatives tried to plug up the boarder. Obama did not do a thing to help them, he let the conservatives drive them to him. He lied about doing any thing to help them. That is just one example. Obama has lied and will continue to lie to stay in power.

Here is what all people should know and few do:
It is individuals that build an economy, especially the entrepreneurs. The more that is produced, the stronger the economy. Production, and not spending, is the wealth of a nation. Other than a great natural disaster or war, there is only one thing that can destroy the economy and that is government; by regulation, taxation and curbing freedom. Taxation is the taking of next years seed corn that would have led to a bigger crop. Cleveland was right when he said "it is the people that must support the government". In the long run, the sinking of the Titanic will be a good thing.

Looks at the good side. Things are going to tank again for sure, no way to get out of it, so it will be better for republicans when that happens with Obama in there. Romney would go down with it if he was there, and after the repblicans got the blame for that they would be done. So there is a chance the reps could come back now if they take some advice, and give us a conservative. If it's not too late like Cuts points out...might be too late.
Forget it and don't let it eat you up....keep your chin up, laugh it off, have a sense of humor, cause if you don't, your going to waste what's left of your life. We have to work harder is all, and budget more to get around the big government. We done it before, we can do it again. Since they don't have a budget, they will burn their own cities down at some point like they always do when the gravy runs out and they will waste each other, nature takes care of itself when things get too crowded. After they cut their own numbers down they will be easier to out vote too maybe.

If a candidate cant win at the primary level, how do you expect them to win at the national level. If the media can knock them out that early, they are done.

The country has spoken.  Obama carried the electoral vote, as well as the popular vote.  Those of us who disagree with his policies are in the minority.
 
We can pontificate forever, but it is what it is.  If they can keep us afloat financially for 4 years...(I don't believe so), they will elect another like Obama next time.
 
With all their carrying on about the "little man", however, you notice that all of the bail out money and etc. has gone to big corps, and big banks.  When  that is gone, then what?
