deer noticed the lighted nock!
« on: November 07, 2012, 12:43:36 PM »
Went deer hunting with bow today. New to this game and bought some lighted nocks this winter. Had a shot at a doe today and misjudged distanced. Deer was further away than I thought and arrow went low. Deer hardly notoced and moved on. About 15 minutes later another doe came by and noticed light flashing on the nock.  She went to investigate and ate a little grass and then moved on! Anyone else experience a deer investigating their arrow after it was shot?!?

I've had several investigate one that was sticking out of them. The ones that go slam through em seem to really get their attention :)

If he's carrying a singleshot, don't expect a warning shot!

Many years ago, before you had to kill a deer out of a tree. I had a neighbor who, was, trying out the new fangled elevated tree platform setup. (2x4's plywood and nails) A buck walked in and he missed it. A while later it came back and kept looking up at him. Odd at the time because deer "absolutely did not look up". He was able to get another shot off and another miss I might add. Couldn't figure it out the weird behaviour of the deer, not his shooting, until he came down off his perch and noticed his flashlight that was in his back pocket had been turned on. Yes deer can be curious.
