They don't have your address unless they go to the store where you bought it and dig through the files.  Those files are only kept for 20 years btw.  If they come for mine, I suggest they come armed.
many are on computers now and some stores don't ever get rid of them. and when a store goes out of business they often send the files to the ATF.
If a licensee quits business, they are required to forward all of the 4473 forms, or files, and all bound books dating from day one to the BATFE.  The BATFE can during business hours, at their discretion come to the business premises, and inspect all 4473 information, as well as any other documentation concerning firearms aquisition, and disposition. If they want the information the law is all on their side.

They only have to keep them 20 years.  My dealer shreds a batch every year.  They still have to dig through the files.

I'm sure that all self-loading firearms will be banned.  and I doubt if there will be a grandfather clause.

I was shooting turtles in a river with my Smith&Wesson, and a cramp caused me to drop it in the river.
darn.....

this, IMO, is the most likely scenario...

a confiscation would not be likely due to the fact "they" are supposed to, pay "Fair market value" for so deemed articles...there are, possibly, tens of millions of semi-autos out there as we speak.

there will, without doubt, be hundreds of court challenges to any such legislation...

but, in view of the events that seem to happen daily, the mass shootings, there will be something to come of it; of that, i'm certain.

i'm convinced that i will simply convert my MSR (Modern Sporting Rifle...AKA "AR") to a single shot and the semi-auto hand guns? well...i'm not certain about them.

keep in mind...the 2A simply says we can own and bear firearms...it does NOT specify what kind of firearms.

I agree 100% Mike.  Well said.
No, that son of a street lump is going to move as fast as he can against the plain ol white citizenry while making sure his acorn army is as well armed as can be.  I've told you before this sob has no use for the constitution and will order the military to support any police action necessary to confiscate any and all firearms banned by that un treaty.
Do you buy now for investment - no dummy, you buy now to hopefully save your life.  Do you worry about private transfers - nope, for as long as it is legal buy whatever you can and secret it away, do not wait.  Stash some ammo and be prepared.  Your enemy here will not be a truckload of gun waving nummies from the city looking for more than 5 gallons of gasoline, it will be the cops and any nat'l guard or reserves they can muster for support.  And they will kill your women and children just like the cops have done before, and as fast as they can.
I would not believe any of this crap about this cop or that one, or this veteran son or that veteran son not obeying orders to fire on American citizens - to them we aren't citizens, we are outlaws who must be stopped. Now the dogs are unleashed and you will find out exactly what kind of dogs that sob has let loose on you.  Your only choice and chance to survive is to kill them as fast as they come at you, take what they have and wait for them to send more.  There are 80 million armed Americans in this country and more states that field more hunters every year than we have ever had troops in the middel east.  He is too stupid to learn from history so we just might have to kick his ass back into history class and remember, when the Brits tried to disarm Americans we fought back and won, and now we had damned well better prepare to do the same this time.
He has no use for the Constitution and he will use whatever tactics and lies he can to disarm this country.  We must arm up and band together to survive.  Now is the time to consider like minded groups like militias as I doubt he would hesitate for a moment to use foreign troops to support police actions if he is stonewalled from using American troops in-country.  We brought this on ourselves for not being unified enough to bring him down and maintain what freedoms we have left, and now we will have to fight for it.  So if you're gonna puke yer guts then puke up now because the fight is coming and you may not even have time to think about anything other than eiher fighting or you dieing; it's your choice and I don't see any alternative.
You want to argue that, go ahead but don't scream injustice when they drag your wife or daughter naked from their beds and machine-gun them while they are on the floor just because some chicken-schmidt sob has called in that you have guns and didn't support him in the last election.
They can make any damned excuse they want to for their actions and the supid media will print what they say and make you and all of yours look like the kind of street scum who should just have been shot on sight, so quit your damned complaining and prepare for it.
You will have only one choice and that will be to either fight or submit.  And, because this is a free country, it is your choice but make it and prepare and just quitcherbitchin'.  It is not as though you have not been told all this before, and that's for sure.

There are law/rules now, especially on college campuses that ban free speech, you know the First Amendment. Since they have quite easily, with Republican help or apathy done that, just why does anyone think that if they got serious with a Marxist type president as we now have, or if Pres. Obama loads the Supreme Court with more socialist liberals, that the Dem. could not make a serious attack on the 2nd Amendment.

Tax laws have been applied retro-actively, so to do so with firearms will not be that hard.

our military, especially the higher ranks have been well schooled in their duty. They swore to uphold the Constitution, not blindly obey the CiC. Soldiers know they can legally disobey illegal orders. The Joint Chiefs although they know the President is Commander in Chief they will remember their oaths to uphold the Constitution and will not obey unconstitutional laws. I am confident in that.

Beware the DHS and FEMA. They will be the obamanations attack dogs. THEY are political lackies, not combat troops. When they have overwhelming force they will be brave as all thugs are. When met with even moderate force the will cut and run. When the Blue Helmets arrive then I think our military will act, once the BHs have fired on Americans. Then the UN thugs will find out what Sadam Hussien did. The only countries that will participate in 'peace keeping' are those that will want a piece of us, literally. I have no doubt the obamanation will promise material rewards to those countries that support his illegal incursion. Well, you never can tell about the French.

I have as much confidence in the integrity of our military as I do confidence that the obamanation thinks we will be sheep. Sheep do not shoot back.

During the debates Romney bragged about enacting an AWB in Mass. but I can't see a nation wide ban during my lifetime. I was really disapointed that the NRA backed Romney knowing that he was instrumental in Mass.

In N.O. after the big storm Blackwater  was on site first they took many of the guns. These guys worked for the state dept. in the war on terror and at one time had more people in the middle east than our military. There are several more around today . BW has changed its name due to trouble they had a few years back. These groups are little more than hired guns and many if not most of their operators come from places other than the USA . These are the ones that need tight control and regulation as they would provide troops that would not follow laws ( like taking the guns in N.O.) .

sadly the BW mercenaries are trained military personnel. They will be tough. At any given time they will outnumber the Patriots opposing them. We will need good communications to keep Patriots informed of their locales so we can respond appropriately.

That was in 2005, can't blame the democrats for that one.the reality is both sides used their services and that is how they got the great deal they did where nither the host country or the US could convict them for killing people while protecting American diplomats while traveling in host countries that were at war. They abused the deal and had to regroup.
And that is the danger any group like tat can get out of hand. The new HLS that will not be at the border but all over America will replace local LEO's who know local tradition and what is acceptable . Also locals will not know what these new troops will do as they know what local LEO's do or will do. As it is today local police work is by locals when it goes national what will really happen ?
SA the most important resource will be knowing what is going on , those who keep tabs will be worth more than guns and ammo. A red flag will be when the ablity to share information is disrupted .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

That rhetoric sounds like the crap that comes out of Hollywood. All TV reports I saw collecting guns was local law enforcement.

That was in 2005, can't blame the democrats for that one.----Yes that was Rino Bush who was actually just as anit-gun as Clinton, he said had the gun ban reached his desk he would have signed back into law.
Reagan for all they hype that tries to make him greater than he was, was NOT A FRIEND of firearms owners either.

I've a vague memory that California HP was there in NO, gun-grabbin' and roustin' citizens along with the New Orleans PD. I think it was a CHP guy that assaulted the little old lady with the pistol, in her own home... am I mis-remembering?

I'm not at ease at all over this because there are factions and some public support to tighten up firearm laws up here as well. I would hate to think we are going back to full fledged registration which we just got rid of.

BBF   OMG how much tighter can your laws be?

a new 'assault weapons ban' when only pistols were used in this tragedy. They just do not think. As the late great Ronald Reagan said "most of the facts that liberals know are WRONG.

I dunno SA where the media is concerned..... for several days now the media has reported that the shooter used two pistols.     Now this evening all of a sudden they report that the shooter used 'exclusively' a Bushmaster AR to kill ALL of his victims then only used the pistol on himself when LE was closing in.      Sounds to me like the story has changed to pump up the vitriol against "assault weapons" .   Truth is, we will never know unless someone on the inside decides to spill the beans.

I've been listening closely to obbies words and I'm positive, as most of you already are, that this is , the beginnings of a legislative push to obliterate our 2nd amendment rights. 2013 will be the year marked for its happening.

I believe there will be a reinstatement of clintons assault weapons ban but in addition I think the "FAC" Or "FOID" card is coming, fees and licensing to own or buy ammo. This will both punish more American companies who voted conservative, and further put guvco in charge of who can and can't fire a gun. Its getting ready to get ugly, of that we can be sure.  J

Not just the so called assault weapons. They are going to move big and they are going to move fast. I think they will try for any semi auto. They also will stop anyone with any history of even seeking counseling in marriage. saying they have a history of mental issues. They are going to use any and all means in Obamas last 4 years to get what they have wanted for many years.
