Once again everyone jumped on the losin band wagon for a now, "two time loser". In 08, it was McCain! They didn't want him the first time when he ran "against" the 2nd Amendment, and they didn't want him in 08, when he was "for" the 2nd Amendment, even though he had voted "against it" for 30 years, 72% of the time. He was a "liar" and Independents knew it.
SO! In 2012, the Republicans once again "produced a loser" for a candidate. He "invented future Obamacare" while Governor of Mass., was "pro-choice" on abortion, then against it, was "anti-2nd Amendment" then "for it", and the list goes on and on. He lost the nomination in 08, because everyone saw him as a "political chameleon", i.e. "liar" then. Just because he was a "Republican", Republicans wanted us "Independents" to "follow them" and get rid of Obama.
It doesn't work that way. Some folks refuse to settle for less, while others constantly settle for less, and get in return? Even less than the were willing to settle for.
My state (Texas) pretty much was carried by the "political chameleon" known as "Mitt Romney", so I could have voted for Mickey Mouse, and it wouldn't have mattered. However, Independents are tired of the same ole, same ole, and will not drink the "Republican kool aid".
The "free thinkers" known as the "Tea Party" have been able in "certain areas" of the USA been able to put a few Congressmen in, and perhaps a few State Senators, that are "TRUE CONSERVATIVES", but the movement is not yet big enough, and perhaps never will be.
A "true conservative" will NEVER "settle for less", nor will a Christian. A "wanna be" of either will demonize the person sticking to his convictions, when the "wishy washy", anythings better than him, voter will vote the lessor of.
Is there a solution? Of course there is, but "COLLECTIVELY" AMERICA DOESN'T HAVE THE HEART.
"Part time Conservatives" ONCE AGAIN, got their ass handed to them AGAIN this election, because of their "part time conservative ways", and their "part time conservative candidate".
WANT A BETTER CANDIDATE? BE A BETTER VOTER! STOP SETTLIN FOR LESS, AND THOSE WITH THE BRAINS TO "THINK FOR THEMSELVES" WILL HELP YOU!  But we "ain't" drinkin the Koolaid, just because you THINK your smarter. Maybe four more years of the worst president since Abraham Lincoln will wake every one up. Provided there's anything left to wake up to.JMO

P.S. Save the flamin responses. Like water on a ducks back here. I "know" what I want, and it ain't mediocrity. Maybe four more years of this idiot will cause American voters to actually look at future candiates, instead of name recognition, eloquent lying, and good hair.

Excellent post Dee.

All I wanted was a conservative to vote for and the Republicans couldn't produce. When you lose against one of the worst presidents ever it's time to do some soul searching.

I agree with you Dee except I have to point out a couple of things.
The third party has no chance in this country at this time and may never as you stated.
That being said by voteing for that party or not voteing at all did nothing to get rid of the problem we are ALL stuck with for another 4 years.
Now was not the time to make a stand.
I agree that that time is comming and I would have loved for it to have been now but not at the expence of getting more of what we have just gone through.
The only thing left is to wait until he is done, (if there is anything left) and we can maybe get someone worthy of our trust but so far I have not seen anyone and I will never not vote so I did what I thought was best for the country as a whole and that was to try and get rid of what we had.

when obama gets thru there won't be much left of this nation that we will recognize. he did promise to "Fundamentally change America"
as many have acknowldeged, obama care, the biggest tax hike in our history, will be extremely difficult to change, or repeal, without massive cost and effort, then heap on other tax increases to follow...will leave all but the most wealthy, staggering to survive...for anyone making less than the targeted $250k per year...that's what it will become...survival...party affiliation will become meainingless.

I gave up on the Republican party during the Bush years. When he started, (or should I say continued) a war against a country (Iraq) that had done nothing to us. I watched a lot of folks get drafted and go to Vietnam only to be abandoned after 50,000 American men and women died over there. Bush was just more of LBJ, in a shorter, smoother package. I won't ever give up my Christian values, or principles. I.E. I will never "settle" for the lessor of. The voters may, have, and will, give me the lessor, but that is on THEM, and all I have to do is live with, and survive it.
I vote, make no mistake about it, but not just to be votin, which is all "settlin for less is". I will ONLY vote for character, honesty, and moral virture, when I vote. If the candidate doesn't pack that gear, then so be it. I won't support him.
Obama is what he is, and is president because the American voter in their lazy, uninformed, socialist educated (thank you public school system), mind set wanted him. I ain't whinnin, I ain't complainin, and I (as they say) AIN'T SKEERED.
We have what we have, and we'll get whatever we're willing to accept. That's the bottom line. But America got what it asked for, when they chose those two candidates. Romney is officially right there where he belongs. In the loser column with McCain, and the other also rans. TWICE! Nixon ran twice, and American Republicans just couldn't get enough of him until they finally got him in the White House. That ended well, didn't it?
All the "professional politicians" are what they are. I ain't gonna be a part in the continued promotion of'em. Like it or not, believe it or not, accept it or not. Republicans are just as bad as Democrats. Their bad habits are just different. Dems spend other folks' money, and give it to folks in the form of "welfare & subsidies". Republicans start unnecessary wars, and get "real patriots" killed. Chose your poison.

No Republican could have won based on their foreign policy views, except Ron Paul.  Domestically, too, the Democrats had the better attitude, nation build here at home, not Pakistan.  So what was in it for voters to vote for Romney?  Just the opposite of what the voters wanted.  More nation building, except ours, and big companies getting tax cuts while they ship jobs overseas.  It is amazing the electorate voted Republican as good as they did.

Dee,
I agree with your post!
This will be a good education to those that continue to drink the koolaid!!
Those that voted for BHO will suffer the consequences of their vote, and the republicans will maybe learn to come up with a candidate that can present himself and explain conservative values to convince the masses that the road we are on now is the wrong path!!

We don't want conservatives.  Conservatives failed the Weimar Republic for the same reason.  They were too weak.  We need a tough party.  Priority should be to secure the nation's lead supply.  Free lead distribution to party members.

I laugh when I hear a liberal Democrat laud the party for wanting jobs over here. It's such an ignorant remark, and one of "little real information". Example? Chrysler is going to expand assembly plants to build more Jeeps. Isn't that great? More jobs! The liberal Democrats were right!
Did I mention that Chrysler is going to start opening these plants in CHINA, so CHINA can drive Jeep? So much for your much touted JOBS OVER HERE. ::)
You liberal Democrats are just a ignorant as the Republicans.

The problems are more fundamental than what you lay out.

Our primary system is broken. Romney got the nod by flooding the early voting states with obscene amounts of cash. States that by in large are BLUE!  You see the problem?

For a large part of the country my state included the primaries are decided before we even get to vote!

HC has the right of it. The media told us that Paul had the best chance of beating Obee back in February and March. They said that he offered the only clear platform that was diametrically opposed to what Obee was offering. They also told us that Romney could not win against Obee because he was only offering more the same, and he could not out-liberal the ultimate liberal and he could not pull the conservative base to the polls.

And they did exactly what they needed to do to make sure that Paul was not in the running, by withholding coverage from him and slathering it on Romney.....with the RNCs enthusiastic assistance. The RNC,like the media and many here used a sly tactic to stop Paul......with howls of "Isolationist", which was a patent lie. Paul was NEVER an isolationist, he is a non interventionist.

But it was too difficult for the average voter to sort out the difference.....and cost America it's best hope in favor of a flip flopper that they thought "sounded" better. The problem was that true conservatives and those of a Christian mind set would not go there. They wanted something different, not more of the same.

When we saw the rule changes that took the delegates away from Paul, and the venom with which the RNC treated him by excluding him at the the convention....they lost not only Paul supporters, but also conservatives who might have gone with Romney anyway, had they not been so vindictive. Add to that the sneaky/underhanded way they kept Paul's victory in the Iowa Caucus secret for over a month, and ...well most true conservatives were done.....they wouldn't follow a party like that anywhere.

So......what can we do now? One thing is for sure, quit trying to run neocons with liberal tinsel spread all over them!

A conservative cannot win.  There aren't very many conservative voters.
Actually more people say they are conserviative then  liberal when decribing them selves.
What we have in the Republican Party is actually a big tent party.
The Democrats have a Camp Party.
The Difference is the Republicans can have a candidate that has 10 things on his platform and you agree with 8 of them but are unwilling to vote for him because you disagree with 2 of his items.
The Democrats have candidates that have 10 things in their platform and thier supportes my only agree on two of the ten but will Vote to stop the Republicans.
We have a disadvantage in that the Media is for the Democrats for one reason or another.  And no matter what the candidate actually stands for the media will lie about them and distort what has been said.
I saw Mitt as a hope to slow down the desent into pure socialism.  And until we get the idea that we have to stop the Democrats the same way they will do anything, lie, cheat, steal to stop a conservitive then all hope is lost.  And you that want a conservitive in office again, you want a Ronald Regan, a JFK, a statesman will never get one as long as you fail to vote to stop the socialist slide we are on that only tells the Republicans to be more like the Democrats to get ellected.

What's important is what Paul stood for and was adapted by Obama.  Bringing the troops home, ending the wars.  Exit polls showed 57% of the electorate blamed Bush for foreign and domestic troubles.  It's amazing Romney got as many votes as he did.  Sheldon Addleson's money went pretty far.

The real problem now, is that we have passed the tipping point economically anyway.  None of the men who were in the primarys can fix it.

Our annual budget plus interest will soon exceed the GDP of the US.  It already is 25% of the worlds GDP.

LOL, and then when the media ignored him because of his isolationist beliefs, you really got down on the media.
so the media is great one minute and one-sided the next.

I think what really happened is that the media knows that behind his republican personna, there beats the heart of a libertarian.  and the libertarian platform is too close to the democrat platform to bother with him.
the platform lets women kill their babies and says that gay marriage is okay and they can adopt children.
so naturally they decided to pick on Romney because the republican platform is against those evils.

I think if you will look at my posts over the past several years on this site, you will find that I have said all along that MONEY & MEDIA have basically decided whom the candidates will be. The media basically chose Romney, as they did Obama. This is not a new analysis, but it is an accurate one. The problem is; is that Americans buy into it hook line and sinker, and blame each other when the orchestrated plan succeeds. I.E. They never seem to catch on, and fall for it every time.
This is only a small part of my reason for this thread to begin with, but few look much further than the haircut on candidates.

McDuck had it exactly right. If you have one or two issues that are important to you, you may be able to influence them favorably. If you think there is a horde of like minded individuals out there and you can remake the world in your image, you have serious delusions. If you are trying to EXPAND your own "rights", you may pick up some supporters, because of the natural response of many people to give at least tacit approval to things that do not negatively effect them. When you are actively trying to take away "rights" that most people agree that they have , you are pretty much SOL. The Republicans need to learn to take what they can get, and live to fight another day. Or become extinct. 20% of something is infinitely more than 100% of nothing. Remember when they thought they had eliminated the democrats? Did not happen. They wised up. The R's had better also.

The truth is, most dont want to admit it but the problem was not who ran, nor the media, not the primaries, not the dem or repub system. The problem is and will always be, as is noted by historians from antiquity. Good men on their asses.
The majority point fingers and want get off their ass to, write letters, walk precincts, hold signs, interview candidates, meet with those willing to give time and sometimes money to the effort of electing those that will support this Country. Most want to just vote and whine about who the choises are. Well duhh, what stake do you have in the process? Why do you have a right to bitch about who was on the ticket?
Everyone has an excuse for not helping. Their are men and women as we speak trying to get ready for next time. Common men and women who work and take the time to make this country what it should be. I have got my email box full of those that I worked with, ready to try again but they will be alone just like they always have.
Join or start a party for next time and get busy. Or dont bitch when it is more of the same.

Amazing only if one has a closed and prejudiced opinion.

Romney got three million less conservative votes, Obama received eight million fewer liberal votes.

Ron Paul has made a pariah out of himself with asinine nineteenth century isolationist rhetoric.

What you are suggesting is nothing new MWD! I've been around this planet for  almost 70 years, and every election for president I can remember, my fellow Republicans have said the same thing.Just one more time! It's actually (Every time) It doesn't work! I voted for one of sorriest excuses for president ever elected GWB. I got endless war's and the Department of Homeland Security for my help in putting him in office. It was the last straw for me, and a wake up call for good. You have to come to the realization it's not going to happen and vote for for a real patriotic American like a Ron Paul, or not vote at all if the only choice is the two hand picked criminals.

I think some will come to this realization as they grow older, and some never will. I'm not directing this response at you, but at anyone who believes the only choice we have is the two standing for the establishment. Most on the forum wouldn't agree, but I feel good about not voting for either, and placing my vote for someone I actually believed in. Not someone just a little better than the other. I don't feel like my vote........NO! I know my vote was not wasted!
Freedom Of Speech.....Once we lose it, every other freedom will follow.

The dispersment of political ideologies in America is a bell curve with most of the populace being moderates.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/120857/Conservatives-Single-Largest-Ideological-Group.aspx

The problem with the republicans is they're pandering to the conservative/ultra conservatives and aren't paying attention to the changing views of the moderates, ie:
moderates are increasingly accepting of gay marriage
moderates are increasingly accepting of the theory of climate change
moderates are increasingly accepting of higher taxes for the 1%
moderates are increasingly wary of trickle down economics
I'd say moderates are evenly divided about abortion but when republicans make statements about "legitimate rape"or "God intended rape" they shoot themselves in the foot.( Be nice to see someone focus on preventing unwanted pregnancies)

Right or wrong, without the moderates the republicans have an uphill battle.

I think what really happened is that the media knows that behind his republican personna, there beats the heart of a libertarian.  and the libertarian platform is too close to the democrat platform to bother with him.
the platform lets women kill their babies and says that gay marriage is okay and they can adopt children.
so naturally they decided to pick on Romney because the republican platform is against those evils

As usual, pure BS. Plenty of Republicans are pro abortion:

HEY GOP LEADERSHIP, LESSON LEARNED?? As the dust clears and the pundits from both sides argue about the reasons behind the GOP’s significant losses, we know: It’s women, stupid!
The GOP attempted to reach out to women with a strong economic message and promoted the idea that women are smart, care about pocketbook issues and would not be swayed by a 'war on women' strategy. Well they got one thing right, women are smart, and they understand that reproductive health issues ARE pocketbook issues and that science and medical decisions should not be fodder for political pandering.  Women were 53% of the over all vote and they handed the GOP an unprecedented 11 point gender gap that cannot be ignored.

Mitt Romney was pro abortion his entire career (until it was time to run for president as a cough, cough "conservative")

There weren't enough Ron Paul supporters to matter anyway.

yes some are.  at least the platform and the majority of republicans are pro life.
the democrat and libertarian platforms, on the other hand, say that the murder of unborn babies and the marriage of same sex gays is OKAY.

since I'm an old man who is Bible believing and God loving with ETERNITY staring me in the face, I'll take the high road and condemn abortion and gay rights, while praying that you and others come to your senses before it's too late.
