I have been fond of the Speer 270 Gold Dots and WW296 powder sparked with a CCI 350 primer. ;)

There should be a lot of information down below on the "Handloading for Rifles and Handguns" forum.  Mine is reamed to .445 so the loads I have wouldn't help you.

  OK, Pete;
  Now you have me curious!  What cartridge are we talking about, that uses a .445 bullet?

It actually doesn't use a .445 bullet.  It's simply the .44 mag reamed out to a longer case and uses the same diameter bullets.  Not familiar with it but someone will chim in pretty soon.

That's all it is.....a .44 "Long Rifle" ;) A .44 Mag done the same way a .357 Maxi is reamed.   It shoots the same bullets as the Mag, just faster, harder and longer.  I like it, but in a way it's redundant for me.  The .45-70 will do more, but it is still a lot of fun.  I did it for a close range bear rifle and liked it more than the .500 so I sold the .500.  Brass can be hard to find.  It's not run often, but once you have it it lasts a long time.  You can also make it from .30-40 brass.  It'll still shoot the mags, specials and Russians.

Thanks Tim, but I think I'll stick with the .44 mag..I had an old Shikari which I gave to my grandson..I missed it so much, that I bought another (CVA this time)..  I do know by experience, that the .44 magwill punch a whitetail down pronto.  Now that I'm 76 years old..I'll settle for the .44 mag recoil.. ;) ;D

Digger reamed his CVA Scout with the reamer before he sent the reamer to me.  :D
