Updated today at 7:59 PM    (WHAS11) -- The UPS Foundation says it will no longer give grants to the Boy Scouts of America.

UPS officials say as long as the Boy Scouts exclude gays and lesbians from being scouts or leaders they will not give them grants.

The philanthropic branch of the shipping giant made the change after an online petition attracted more than 80,000 signatures.

The UPS foundation gave $150,000 to the Boy Scouts back in 2010.

UPS Foundation officials say the groups applying for grants will have to adhere to the same standards as UPS----saying they don't discriminate against anyone.

Mechanic, Don't take it too much to heart when you see such support for your principles. I have been villified repeatedly for refusing to back a homo supporter for president.  In point of fact my principles on this subject have been called "ego instead of principle".

You will find that here on GBO, your principles will be praised ,or assaulted, based entirely upon who's ox is being gored at the moment.

You're right Quan, I am a capitalist.  And UPS can do whatever they want with their money, and so can I.  The priciples which made this nation great pulled the rest of the world out of darkness as well, so I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE for something that is right, has been proven right, and made this country great.

To Whom it may concern, re: the above topic.  Homosexuality is a moral sin, based upon the teachings of any world religion I am aware of.  That said, we live in a free country.  They may choose to live as they will.  The Boy Scouts is a private organization.  They may choose their own moral path as well.  WHY IS IT WRONG FOR ME TO SPEAK AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY, BUT RIGHT FOR OTHERS TO SPEAK AGAINST THE SCOUTS?  TURN YOUR ARGUMENT AROUND.  Quite frankly, I'm getting tired of having to speak UP for something, and being accused of bigotry.  To live a moral life, in light of the Bible is right.  Others can do as they wish.  I really don't care what UPS does, we can support the scouts without them.  I will not boycott them, but I will not change my life view to conform to other's standards.  If the Boy Scouts change their policy, I will no longer support them, and I WILL boycott them.  Make of that what you will.

I vehemently hate any organization pushing gayness as a way of life that is natural and normal, on the flip-side the boyscouts (and roman catholic church and public schools) need to stop protecting child-molesters in the midst of their operations, before taking a stance on ANYTHING!  Also, while overt and "flaming" gayness should be discriminated against, I don't see what's wrong with teaching otherwise normal kids to be moral and quality people.  I find it disturbing to push them away for their sexual deviance (in a "not normal or congruent with society" sense, not scriptural).  I don't mind someone being a bit off (queer), but it's real hard to not hate a hardcore liberal flamer on site.  why not bar chubby-chasers or guys that like girls that are too skanky?  skanks cause more problems than homosexuals, at least as individuals (as an organized group, not so much).  those same inherently gay (by no choice of their own) kids could be hardcore right wing, dress and act normal or better, be monogamous, hygenic, dressed in hunter orange (they like flashy colors  ), pro-life, etcetera if taught to be so instead of shunned... and picked up by the disgruntled, misfit LEFT by default!  they are the ones that NEED the guidance the most.

I remember Levi's jean doing something like this about 15-20 years ago.
They came out against the Boy Scouts stance on homosexuality and pulled thier donation funding.
They forgot BSA was one of thier largest customers, they used to make the BSA uniforms.
BSA pulled it's contract and went with Wrangler Jeans Co.
 
Ever since then I've reffered to Levi's as She Guys.

I have never asked a scout, or a leader about their sexual orientation.  As long as it's not overt, it's none of my business.  I do the same with neighbors, etc.  I have nephews, (one) who are (were) gay.  One died at age 28 from aids. 
 
If a leader were to announce such orientation, they would be asked to resign.
 
I still do not apologize for my stance.  Perhaps some are born with a "gay gene".  I'm not a neurologist, nor a psychologist.  The behaviour is still condemned by the Bible, both old and new testaments.  It is condemed by the Koran.  It is condemned by the holy book of all major religions.  It is no worse than any othe overt sin, but is just as bad.  If a man commits adultery, and his wife finds out and leaves him, do we then condemn the wife for intolerance?
 
Some claim they have an "adultery gene".  Should we give them a pass in society, or let them know their behaviour is not acceptable?

I don't like it either, I'm saying that people put gayness right below rapists and child molesters on their hierarchy of sin.  I think it goes violent rape, child molesting, date rape, cheating on a spouse, cheating on a legitimate boy/girlfriend, general promiscuity, gayness, dirtymouth/overt nastiness.

I'm saying that being gay isn't inherently correlative to the promiscuity, infidelity, pervish and/or predatory tendencies that affect straight people also.  Because it's not accepted by and large (and them consequentially) then they have a "no rules" mindset that can be destructive to them and those around them (morally).  THAT is my problem.  close second is the weirdness that follows the gay culture (or heterosexual white liberals)  feminine lispers that cry about rainbows, dolphins, hating meat eating and hunting and guns and american sovereignty and oftentimes cross-dress.  if a guy isn't some freak like rupaul and doesn't run his mouth about liberal bs trying to convert people then so what.  I tell you all despite the anger I'll rouse that I despise chubby chasers and guys dating/humping/marrying skanky women too.  I think people that cheat on their spouses, or swingers (they're not as deceitful but sicker in my opinion), should be put to death on the first offense.  child molesters shouldn't be registered, they should be killed.  rapists should be killed.  our society doesn't do those things so why worry about gay people so much, WE HAVE FREAKS THAT NEED TO BE PUT TO DEATH AND A LOT OF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT HOW TO HARASS QUEERS, GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT!!!
