Ron Paul Retires
« on: November 15, 2012, 04:23:29 AM »
Freedom loving Americans need to heed his advice.....I know Congress won'tRon Paulis retiring from Congress this year. He just gave a wide-ranging farewell speech to Congress. The 48 minute address includes this dire warning:"If it's not accepted that big government, fiat money, ignoring liberty, central economic planning, welfarism, and warfarism caused our crisis we can expect a continuous and dangerous march toward corporatism and even fascism with even more loss of our liberties."The solution falls on each and every individual, with guidance from family, friends and community:

"The #1 responsibility for each of us is to change ourselves with hope that others will follow.  This is of greater importance than working on changing the government; that is secondary to promoting a virtuous society.  If we can achieve this, then the government will change."
Freedom Of Speech.....Once we lose it, every other freedom will follow.

He would have made a good secretary of the treasury.
I heard him say somewhere that we should return to the gold standard, and I fully agree with that.

Good man, Ron Paul. He understands that we've got too much fed, too intrusive a gov't, he understands the value of individual liberty, and - though a believer, and clearly pro-life? - he did not engage in hating gays and abortions demagoguery so popular among Christianist right-wingers. He'll be missed.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Here is his farewell speech to congress. All would do well to listen to it and heed the warnings:

The sole purpose of government is to protect your liberty. The Constitution is not to restrict the people, but to restrict government.  Ron Paul

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first. - Thomas Jefferson

“Everyone wants to live at the expense of the State. They forget that the State lives at the expense of everyone.” — Frederic Bastiat

His voice will be sorely missed, I hope he inspires more pro-liberty people to get involved in politics.
"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."

---- William Pitt (the Younger), Speech in the House of Commons, November 18, 1783
