Take down lever return spring?
« on: February 11, 2004, 10:26:12 AM »
I've had my .44 Handi almost a year now so I'm still fairly new here.  How much play should the "take down" lever have.  Mine actually rattles.  Should there be a spring to hold it up, or is this normal.  I have the only handi at my range so I have no other to compare it with.

I have 7 H&R/NEF products and the all have a little bit of play or rattle, but not to much.

Same here, my 4 all have play, one has enough to rattle, very annoying, but I've learned to rest my thumb on the side of it.  I might have to slip a little piece of felt with sticky backing between the lever and the trigger, sticking the felt to the lever so it doesn't rattle against the trigger.

Hmmm, might have to look at that tonight while I'm sitting next to the wood burner keeping the house warm.

Hey thanks for the fast replies guys.  As long as its normal I'm OK with it.  Might do the felt things to it.

Take down lever return spring...

Yeah, the spring IS engaged if it resets at closing - otherwise you would have to lift the latch by hand while closed to engage the barrel lock-up.

Some do have more slop then others...
