Martini's not allowed in BPCR sidematches
« on: November 16, 2012, 02:44:26 AM »
Hello Guy's....I know this dog has been kicked before...so here we go...I shoot a lot of silouette matches...with the long range, 200 meter, shooting sticks..being my favorite...my main match rifle is giving me fits on accuracy..Cimarron 1885 low wall with set triggers..it is in the shop for a target crown...and possibly a new barrel >:( ...I have three Martini's..a 12/15...a MKII....and a MKIV International....I will be able to shoot the 12/15...but not for score, because of the exposed hammer deal...per the match director...high dollar inserts are allowed....CPA'S are allowed at.....Hepburns with alot of work....original low wall's with a lot of work....$$$$$$$$$$....but I cannot shoot my $300.00 Martini ????? There are a lot of these rifles out there, that would put more people on the firing lines in these matches..is there a little fear factor out there ;D ....Ok...thru venting...to all a wonderful day

No it's not fear factor, besides there hasn't been a martini built that can outshoot a sharps or rolling block anyway.
The rules for BPCR sillouette were set almost 40 years ago. There were very few commercial rifles available, so they wrote the rules with the what they had available, and with the stipulation that the rifle must be AMERICAN manufacture with an EXPOSED chambered in a blackpowder cartridge manufactured prior to 1904.
So no you can't fire your martini or a sharps borchardt in bpcr sillouette for score, but you can use those rifles in bptr and the "buffalo" gong matches.
We hear this nonsense about "cheaper" rifles getting more people on the line, but that rings a bit hollow when you look at what it cost to set a shooter up just with the guns for a cowboy action match.
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....

Never intended to make it sound like the Martini would outshoot the above mentioned rifles...but they will shoot WITH them all day long....cost of these guns keep alot of shooters at home...that are not going to spend the 2,000.00 and up...when they can shoot a 300.00 rifle..and stay competitive...as far as the cost of the cowboy action guns...I agree...but we are only talking about one gun here ? Any way...rules are rules...I understand them....sometimes I just believe we go a little over board..and I am talking rimfire only

::) The 22bpcr rules are patterned after the big guns rules. A person can get one of the remakes of the Stevens Favorite for under 300$ along with the Uberti rollers. And I'm curious about the fit about high dollar rifles when the one you say you run as your main gun retails over 1K$?
Alot of the buffalo gong matches have 22 side matches and anything goes with those, most just require you single load it... See alot of henry's on the line. Along with 10-22's.
Ever priced a skeet or dedicated trap gun, or a sporting clays?
Shooting sports have never been cheap.
