I will be out with my oldest son (his first time). I will have my 500 S&W using my 385 gr Rem CL slug over 41 gr of H110 and he will be toting the 357 max using 180 gr Hrndy SSP over 20.9 gr of H110. My youngest will be out with my 44 mag using 265 gr Hrndy over (I can't remember), but very effective combo of H110. I just gotta make it through work today. :P

I know how you feel, opening day for deer here is the 22 of nov., now if I could just quit changing my mind on cal. For oppening day I pretty sure I'll take the Marlin 44mag. Good luck to all and have a safe hunt.

Our opening day was Wednesday but tomorrow is my 1st day out. I'll be with my 10 year old son. I'll have the 357 Maxi, he'll have the 410 Versa Pack with both slugs and sixes in case he sees some squirrels (he likes squirrel hunting better than deer hunting, who am I to argue?).

Good luck to all of you. :)

My season is done as of Saturday. I got my one and only Deer tag filled by sending a 405 gr Rem bullet reload into a nice Doe with the 45-70 Govt for the rifle's first harvest.

Three handis, four shots at deer and one doe down. Pictured is my oldest boy with the downed doe. The winner is the 357 maxi. Clean heart shot at about 15 yards. No tracking involved. She ran maybe 5 or 6 yards and piled up in the briars. Great hunt. However, I had some issues with my 500 SW. I had one pop open when I tried shooting at a doe then followed up with a misfire. I took the rifle down Sunday and cleaned the shelf/latch with alcohol and a q-tip real well and it was full of oil and residue. I then shot 7 rounds through it including the the misfired round which went off the second time. I am taking it out this upcoming weekend for some redemption.
