Truck hauled 3 home this weekend
« on: November 20, 2012, 04:02:46 PM »
Howdy, Sat AM son shot a 3x4 14" (all western w/o eye guards) w/ his Mod. 7 260 Rem. w/129 Nosler PT's, top of heart ran 30 feet end of story, My friend shot one in the field (175 yds.) yesterday first light (had to wait till you could see orange horns against yellow grass, 15 min, after hours opened) 3x3 17", 300 WSM 180 Nosler PT's PP, center of shoulder broadside, and mine a 3x3 w/Model 93 Mauser 7x57 I got in high school in 1970 using old machine screw turned 140 Nosler PT's at 25 yds  @ 11:30 AM. (uphill spined him) Yesterday (last day of late buck) was the first day that bucks were seen w/does which is fairly typical in NE WA. We saw others yesterday but mine was uphill under the power line and was as dumb as dirt, so there ya go. All 1 shot kills w/Partitions and as Jonny B. says "pointy end forward and shoot them in in the front 1/2" -Muddy

Land, Thanks! The problem is that now the truck only has 1st, 2nd and 5th and no reverse! But the good news is that Hunti'n season is over. I had the starter replaced last month and there is .030 end play on the crank and the thrust bearing is bad. I'm really hoping that the lack of 3rd and 4th is a clutch problem and not the tranny. You would not believe how many deer (+2 elk and 4 black bear) that truck has hauled home since I got it in about 1992 (its a 1985 model and had 125K on it when I got it) This year it's brought home a total of 5 deer and some years as many as 7! ,my friends and family, one blind, just like to go w/me-don't know why!. Anyway all of you out there with tags. GO GIT EM!-Swifty
