Ever think of a good 410 slug gun ?

If you are wanting a good 410 slug gun you can make one by simply pulling the barrel off any action that is chambered in 7.62 x 54 R, ( Russian army rifle) or in 303 British. The head on these cases are the same as the 410. I built one on the Moslin action, single shot only as the mag. will not work with 410 rounds. With a little work the Enfields mag. can be made to work. Anyway I load my own slugs useing 240 gr. hard cast gas checked bullets and push them at 1,300 fps. You can`t buy that preformance over the counter. My 11 yr. old granddaughter shot a 1 3/4 gruop with it at 100 yrds. I used a .411 bore in mine but you could also use a .410 bore and shoot bullets made foe the 41 cal hand gun. I used a Douglas barrel and if your close I have a 410 reamer and will chamber it for you. My 9 yrd. old grandson has no trouble with it`s recoil and it makes a great youth deer gun.

 Very cool idea. I had one with an after market stock and bipod I sold not to long ago. would have been a good canidate. Will keep it in mind in case I run across another one cheap

No, because the use of .410 slugs is against the game laws of my state.

In Va. alot of people use the 410 to deer hunt . Mostly kids with single shots and a few 870 pumps. And every year deer get killed with them . the buck loads take deer here also.

I live in Ohio, and 410 is legal here, even though they are not enough for deer, unless you build one like I did.

Catfish,   Myself and Bikerbeans have explored different ideas with the 410 's as were looking to use them in OH also.  Right now BB has a couple of handis chambered for 410's shooting 44 cal. bullets, I have a Mossberg pump with a rifled 44 barrel on it and shoot 44 bullets out of the 2 1/2" plastic 410 cases.
  This fall I took a Green Mountain 40 cal. blank turned it to fit a 12 ga. barrel as a liner and epoxied it in. I have it shooting heavyweight cast bullets for the 405 Win. run thru a .401 dia. push thru size die also going to try some of the jacketed and all copper bullets designed for muzzleloaders.  This is on a H & R handi frame and scoped with a 4 X scope.   Jason F also has a handi so chambered for the 44 bullets.
  Im sure theres others that have found out the performance you can get by handloading these,  There nothin like Grandpas old 410.        Jedman

no it won't work.
i've read in a couple of different
magazines that .410's were useless
and nobody should ever let a kid use
one because they would get discouraged
and stop shooting and that .410's should
be discontinued by firearms makers and
never made anymore.

The guy that wrote that must be the same guy I heard say that an off the shelf 10-22 will shoot sub moa at 100 yrds.    Sure sounds like something he would say.

i've read several well known "experts"
articles where they slam the .410


i've taken considerable squirrels and
doves and such with one, starting
when i was a kid.


some of my older magazines and books
talk about how crappy 45/70's are.
it's probably more popular now than in
the 19th century
