this issue is just the tip of the iceberg.

IMO...

obama and his administration will sweep aside the Benghazi incident...

NOTHING further will ever come of "Fast and Furious" and the suit against eric holder...

susan rice WILL be appointed Sec of State over the objections of the house...

obama and his administration, and the state of California  will begin an all out assault on firearms ownership, possession and use. i feel we will be lucky to be able to own a SS/BA rifle/shotgun or a SA revolver.

IMO...this president and his administration are the biggest threat to our freedoms than any in history.

This whole Rice issue is ridiculous . Political crap.

Yes there are more serious issues to address surrounding Benghazi. But Rice going on shows providing the talking points she was given is not one of them. Rice is not the issue.

1. McCain, Graham and like should be investigating the bad intel provided to the messenger not the messenger who conveyed.
2. when requested additional funds to beef up security at embassies abroad these same congressional leaders who sit in judgement now voted "no" and actually cut the budget appropriations being requested for additional consulate security.
3.True Hypocricy has no end. God must love stupid people. He made SO many. A large majority ended up in Washington.

Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.

McCain has relegated himself to nothing more than a punchline to a bad political joke.

America could take a lesson from the outraged citizens of Egypt as their leader goes off the rails.  At least they've got the nads to demand that he resign.  And they haven't been too polite about how they demand it.

Our lying sack of worthless excrement leader should be shown where to get off.  We should rock his world with real rocks and a rope.

Just worth a mention so the most disgusting irony of all isn't lost on everyone.

McCain was one of the largest proponents to overthrow Gaddafi.  Gaddafi as much as a dirtbag that he was  -  was a ruthless dictator that kept Al Qaeda at bay in Libya to avoid opposition to himself. He despised them.

Now al-queda has the opportunity to fill the void, gain a foothold in the destabilized country and attack foreign embassies.

TM7, security contractors are mercenaries who put themselves voluntarily in harms way for bigs bucks so nobody is really interested about how many are killed, except maybe their familys.

Republican obsession with Benghazi makes no sense

Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice, a possible nominee to be the next secretary of state, came to Capitol Hill Tuesday to perform a private mea culpa to key Republican senators for her erroneous initial public statements about the perpetrators of the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi in September in which four Americans were killed.

It didn't work.

After Tuesday's meeting with Rice, Sen. John McCain said, "It is clear that the information that she gave the American people was incorrect when she said that it was a spontaneous demonstration triggered by a hateful video."

Sen. Lindsey Graham who also met with Rice observed, "Bottom line: I'm more disturbed now than I was before."

What is the Republican theory of the case against Rice? It appears to boil down to the idea that leading Democrats covered up the involvement of terrorists in some way connected to al Qaeda in the Benghazi attack during the run-up to the close presidential election because President Obama and others in his administration had for some time said that al Qaeda was close to strategic defeat.

Does this case make sense? First, you would have to accept that Obama, Rice and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton all knowingly deceived the American public about what had happened at the Benghazi consulate.

When this notion was raised in October during the second presidential debate, Obama scolded Republican challenger Mitt Romney saying, "the suggestion that anybody in my team, whether the secretary of state, our U.N. ambassador -- anybody on my team -- would play politics or mislead when we've lost four of our own, Governor, is offensive."

According to a CNN poll released Tuesday most Americans agree with the president and do not believe that anyone in his administration intentionally tried to mislead them about what happened in Benghazi.

Second, it was the intelligence community, not officials at the White House or State Department, that eliminated from the talking points used by Rice after the Benghazi attack the suspected involvement of the Libyan jihadist group, Ansar al-Sharia.

According to accounts of former CIA director David Petraeus' closed door testimony about Benghazi to congressional intelligence committees earlier this month, the intelligence community eliminated references to Ansar al-Sharia in the talking points so as not to tip off members of the terrorist group that the CIA believed that they were responsible for the attack.

The conspiracy therefore was not to mislead the American public but to mislead America's enemies.

If Rice had gone beyond her unclassified talking points and said that Ansar al-Sharia was suspected to be behind the Benghazi attacks, no doubt she would now be being hounded for the unauthorized disclosure of classified information.

Third, it is worth recalling that whenever there is a news event in a chaotic country on the other side of the world, first accounts about the event are often wrong.

Remember the erroneous reports about another big news event last year; the death of Osama bin Laden. Initially, it was portrayed by the Obama administration that bin Laden had died during a firefight with U.S. forces in Pakistan and had used his wife as a human shield.

As more accurate information subsequently came in from the field, administration officials clarified that bin Laden put up no resistance and had not used his wife as a shield.

This is not conspiracy; this is the fog of war.

It is also worth recalling that the situation in Benghazi was so chaotic and dangerous that it took three weeks for the FBI to get in to the city to investigate what had happened at the consulate.

And it took even more time for the facts to emerge that the Benghazi mission wasn't really a consulate in any conventional sense, but was more of a CIA listening station and that two of the four Americans who had died in the attack weren't diplomats as initially portrayed but were, in fact, CIA contractors.

Stepping back from the whole debate about how Rice came to make inaccurate public statements about Benghazi, there is another premise of the Republican attacks upon her that deserves considerable skepticism.

We are supposed to believe that because Ansar al-Sharia -- a group inspired by al Qaeda's ideas, but having no links to the terrorist group that attacked the United States on 9/11 -- was able to pull off a deadly attack in a Middle Eastern country ravaged by a recent war against a lightly defended U.S. mission, killing four, that al Qaeda is suddenly an important threat again to the United States.

If you buy that, I have a bridge in Benghazi I'd like to sell you.

Republican obsession with Benghazi makes no sense

It's more simplistic.

The political obsession is not so much as understanding the Intel Breakdown , as it is to discredit Rice for Secretary appt..
Why  -  Because the GOP would rather Sen. Kerry get the nod.  This would allow a senate seat to open back up in Mass
and Brown or another GOP candidate can run and try to recapture.

It all just a political smoke screen to make a grab for a senate seat.

I think it was all just another fumble by the obama team, bad decision after bad decision. All ineptly covered up with blatent lies seen by all who care to look. In spite of the obvious blunders in security and protective services offered, few of the U.S. Public cares and those who do walk party lines. Its a liberal wonderland right now and the weak conservative citizen and their elected officials just paw and worry at the libs but are swatted away. Sad day for America and its servants overseas. The president and his campaign didn't want the Benghazi thing to become an issue in the election, so they hoped it wouldn't amount to much.  They probably thought that the embassy people would somehow get out of there with their hides.  They were wrong and then they were faced with the scandal that they failed in their duty to protect American lives.  Hence the coverup.  The more they stuck with their coverup lies the more they had to lie and stonewall.  They built this mess and now all they can hope for is that something else comes along to distract attention from it.
No worries, there will be lots of new issues and scandals and the sycophant media will be right there to do everything possible to change the subject.

I HAVE to post this, from another forum:

"I love selective R.winger outrage.

I'm curious where their outrage was in 2002 when the U.S. Consulate In Karachi, Pakistan was attacked and 10 Killed, 51 Injured?

Or in 2004 when the U.S. Embassy was bombed In Uzbekistan with 2 Killed, 9 Injured?

Or again in 2004 when gunmen stormed the U.S. Consulate In Saudi Arabia with 8 Killed?

Or in 2006 when armed men attacked the U.S. Embassy In Syria resulting in 1 Killed and several injured?

Or in 2007 when a grenade was launched into U.S. Embassy in Athens?

Or in 2008 when rioters set fire to the U.S. Embassy In Serbia?

Or again in 2008 when 10 people were killed in bombings at the U.S. Embassy in Yemen?

But suddenly in 2012 at the US Embassy in Benghazi, Libya an attack kills 4 people and suddenly there's outrage and concern about the safety and security of Americans abroad?

Conservative/R.winger idiots."

Let's see here...........our AMBASSADOR was murdered........not a contractor.......a direct representitive of this nation was murdered in our embassy!

This is simply the socialistdemolibs trying to redirect the issue. Don't let the cowardly left get away with changing the real issue. An Ambassador was murdered, they lied about it, and they got caught. It's that simple. See how few words that it takes to address the real issue. Now look at how many words it takes them to redirect.

Whenever I ask this question of my friends on the right, I get no answer of consequence:

What, exactly, do you imagine to be the significance of the Benghazi incident?  ;D

there has been little, to no, information emanating from the white house as to:

1. was there prior intel to warn of an imminent attack on the consulate? there is proof there was.

2. was additional security denied to the consulate even after multiple requests for it from the ambassador himself? there is proof there was denial...who denied it and why?

3. is it true that the whole attack was witnessed LIVE, via satellite/drone on the scene, in real time, by the white house, in the situation room, and nothing was done to aid the personnel in the consulate?

4. there were military assets available minutes away, why were they not utilized to defend American personnel? with today's precision guided ordinances, mortar emplacements could have been neutralized in seconds. it was reported that the two former SEALs had the mortars "Painted" with laser designators...that indicates there was a gunship or drone available...why would they be designating targets, otherwise? if those assets WERE on the scene, why were they NOT given authorization to lite the place up like the fourth of July? collateral damage? not...these assets can deliver on targets to within 8 feet of point of aim....

5. the chain of command ends in the oval office...period; obama IS responsible...he is the CIC...if he knew his personnel were in peril and denied assistance, he is responsible for their deaths is he not? EVERY commander is responsible for those under his/her command are they not?

whether or not it was Al-Qaeda or not, is not significant...it doesn't really matter in the end does it? obama wants us to believe that "Al-Qaeda has been decimated"... evidence says otherwise. remember Tet? the VC were thought to be defeated.

obama HIMSELF needs to go on the media and ANSWER these questions

there may not be foul play or deliberate brushing aside of the issue...but...this white house has a history of ignoring issues  that might make this "President" look bad...why won't he personally take charge and address this issue? until he accepts responsibility, as he should, he is NOT credible...period

when cuba invaded grenada and put americans in jeopardy, Reagan had marines on the ground kicking butt before anyone else knew that cuba was there,
when the PLO hijacked the Achille Lauro, Reagan had special forces on the way even before he knew that Leon Klinghoffer had been murdered. he was also on the phone with every country leader in the area, telling them what he was doing and asking for more commandoes.

This is not exactly correct..3 contractors were also killed with the ambassador present. Likely, somebody underestimated the situation... very common in wars. 2ndly, please detail what the lie was.....that intell was incorrect on the situation?  And that's an old Bush Jr. cop out.  Hey, don't get me wrong...I'm all for dissecting and investigating all the various manisfestations of the US-MIC war machine_ _every single faux paux until the cows come home.

Don't need to tell  you what the lie was, you KNOW that the Obee administration KNEW it was not about a stupid film and they kept lying about it for WEEKS afterwards.

But I will give you credit for trying to redirect the subject matter with only a few words....didn't work though.

You ARE aware that we were not at war with Libya when this took place aren't you? (my own little "redirect effort"  ;) ;D ;) )

Circular logic. Y'all are like the Navahos who believe evil is done by witches. Who are the witches? The ones who do evil. Why do they do evil? Because they are witches.  ;D What benefit could President Obama possibly get from this most publicized cover-up in history? What do you think is being covered up, and why? Y'all are the ones on a witch hunt. You're not making sense.

As an election issue, the only people who were concerned with Benghazi were the ones who were not going to vote for Obama anyway. It was a grasping-at-straws attempt to create an issue where there was none. You want proof? Look at the election results...
