Not a fan of the Walther P22 here.  Owned one of the convertibles with two barrel lengths.  Bought it because I had two young shooters in the family that wanted to move to an autoloader like Dad.  I found the P22 poor in accuracy.  Fun as heck to shoot, but just couldn't take the lack of accuracy and let it go.  I have had very good luck with several Browning Buckmarks, Ruger MkII, and Colt Pre-Woodsman.  I would personally go for the Rugers...just too well supported with parts and accessories and easy to find good used ones at reasonable prices.

I've owned a lot of handguns, rim and centerfire, but never really had a "favorite" untill I got an old AMT Automag ll in .22 WMR. It is light, flat, easy to carry and with the Burris Fastfire mounted on the slide over the rear sight location I shoot it better than I've shot open sights in many years. It's totally adequait for small game and varmints out to 100 yards, maybe more for someone who can hold better.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

I like the Buckmarks because of the variety that Browning manufactures. Their rimfires come in every shape, size and color you can dream up and they change the lineup every year. Heck, I still enjoy going to Brownings website and scrolling through the Buckmark pics. Pity that I only own just one of them.

Browning Buckmark

Enough said, you can go as plain or as fancy as you taste, or budget allows and always get an accurate sidearm. good luck

Time to resurrect this old...but good topic.

In the beginning (of this topic, back in 2003) I was just getting into bullseye shooting.  My first bullseye gun was a Ruger Mark II Gov slab side.  I did a lot of work to the internals with Volquartzen parts.  It was a great gun.

Since that time I have had 5 S&W M41's, and still have two and four barrels.  I used one of these for bullseye for awhile, even ordered some fancy Randall Fung custom grips.

My current Bullseye gun and my favorite is a Pardini.  This is the best that I have shot.  I have shot this gun at Camp Perry 3 times counting next July.

Now as far as plinking, there is no question...give me a 5 screw K22 any day.

I have been shooting about 10 years and have met some of the best friends I will have in this lifetime.

Merry Christmas,

I will not criticize others choices in this thread.

What I own and love...
Ruger 22/45.

With damn near all ammo....
Just under 3/4" scoped,
1 1/4 to  1 1/2" non-scoped at 25 yards.....

I prefer it non-scoped!

Light weight, never jams, and  accurrate .

Just my 2 cents!

This is my favorite 22lr, bought it a few months ago and I´m very pleased with it, works well with high velocity ammo.

SAA,

Wow  that is a great looking Walther!   Are those adjustable rear sights?

I have a 32acp Walther PPK that is also 1935, I will need to start the look for one like yours.

Another note:  My Pardini and I have recently scored my best 900 match in Bullseye.  Scored a 873, this is low High Master, I am rated (and consistantly shoot) Expert.  Still like that Pardini.

Thank you, the rear sights are not adjustable and I dont know why someone replaced it.
But it doesnt bother me that much, I´m not a collector I use my PP´s for target-shooting (I have a 1940 PP 32acp too).
I can recommend the PP/PPK in 22lr they are as accurate and fun as the 32acp versions, but cheaper too use.
Here´s some more pictures so you can see the differences between the  .32 and the .22

Back when I first started shooting, I developed a desire for a Ruger Standard Mk I, which somehow I never bought. Last year after the election I decided to fill the gaps in my guns, and a 22 handgun was first on the list. I bought a Mk III Standard with the 6 1/2" barrel. It's my only rimfire handgun, so by default it's my favorite...but seriously, I really like it. I've always had revolvers before so it's taking some adjustments on my part. The more I shoot it, the better it and I get.

Well, I like all of the .22 handguns that I currently own. I no longer own a single six. They are great guns and built like a tank, but too slow to reload to suit me. If I am going to poke empty cases out, I like bigger holes. I no longer own the Sigs or Buckmarks. My autos are Ruger and M41. The SP101 .22 is another built like a tank handgun. A bit heavy, but hard to find and you are lucky to own one. I have only seen one for sale and bought it on the spot - NIB. I don't shoot it quite as well as the Smiths. All others are Smiths -  M17's, M18's, M63, M317, M617's.

Yesterday we burned up quite a lot of ammo in the 617's and M41 and it sure was fun. Also worked out with the 9's, 40's and .45.

Funny what 8 or 9 months will do to you.
I've picked up several more little 22lr pistola's over this period of time.
My little old inexpensive Buck Mark I bought like 20 or 25 years ago is still my fav.
One of the new additions I have has been seeing a lot of shooting time lately though.
I've got a High Standard buntline that I've really enjoyed the last couple months also.
That longer sight radius seems to work well for my old eyeballs..... ;D
