« on: December 01, 2012, 03:21:26 PM »
I picked up some dog proof egg traps, so far this is not the direction i want to go, I know that this not a classified forum.  but if anyone is a fan of these let me know.

Or if you can tell me why these might be of use- ready to listen.

I've never used one that looks like that, but assuming it is like a coon cuff. I have used them before. I just buried them with the hole up. Put a piece of dog food in it and coons reach in to get it. It is about like putting a piece of food under a steel trap for predation around the chicken pen, just dog safe.

Bug, the egg trap is no way like the coon cuff, other than it is considered a dp.
Special tools are needed not only to set the egg trap, but they are also needed to remove any catch. They are also not the easiest to set.
These are the main reasons you have never seen any egg traps, they are at the bottom of the totem pole,as far as dp's are considered.
They do work,it's just that the others are easier to use.
