Some bonehead named Bob Costas..
« Reply #1 on: December 03, 2012, 04:10:32 AM »
Saw this idiot on the news..       I don't know him, but if I watched some "ball sports" I might though...
This noodlehead wants more "gun control" and fewer guns around because some football player went over the edge..
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOi7If0zW9s
However, some folks  are saying the football player may have lost it due to head injuries  contracted while playing football..  Costas has made no mention of  instituting "football control"..and allowing far fewer football games..
       "Liberal logic".. at work again..
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Just a mouth!! He makes money off of athlete's breaking up their bodies, using steroids, and other drugs. No different than Hollywood type's that scream gun control, and then go out and make an action movie with shoot outs galore. Hypacrite to the max!! gypsyman

It is true that handguns are used in a very high percentage of suicides and crimes of passion. I think the argument is whether society benefits more or less because of the private ownership of handguns. The evidence is that the benefits exceed the costs.

He "knows" Belcher and his girlfriend would be alive if not for a gun!! That has to be one of the stupidest statements I've heard. (On second thought I don't follow sports,so maybe this clown has  made dumber comments) I have also heard Belcher suffered from football related  head injuries, depression, etc.

You can bash Costas all ya want but frankly, we as gun owners aren't any better. If we would put our rants into actions, we wouldn't watch anything this turdhead is on. We'd also complain to the programs sponsors as well. Wouldn't be long and he'd be out of a job. But no, we'll keep watching whatever this moron is on and sit by while the powers that be play this up. When we start losing our gun rights, make sure to point the finger at yerself first. Man, I'm glad I'm fairly old and won't be around much longer. The country I was born in doesn't exist anymore.

This is true, of course.  Sadly the truth is something too complicated for many people to defend, so they stick to little talking points they heard somewhere else.

Like many of our freedoms, the right to own handguns (or any guns) is one that carries costs.  I have no doubt we would have less murders if we lived in a mythical world that had no guns.  We would have less suicides, or at least less fatal ones.  I even think there is a chance Bob is right in this case.

But, as you pointed out, that's not the point.  The point is that our collective freedom to own guns also comes at a collective cost.  If you are not willing to pay that cost, please feel free to move to a country that better represents the freedoms you are willing and not willing to have.

This is a common problem in the NFL. Many former NFL players have commited suicide and let people know in suicide notes that is the reason why. Costas should also mention that if these players never played football they'd still be alive today.

Seau would be the second former N.F.L. player to commit suicide in the past two weeks. Ray Easterling, a safety for the Atlanta Falcons in the 1970s and a plaintiff in a high-profile lawsuit against the N.F.L. over its handling of concussion-related injuries, died on April 19 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. In February 2011, the former Chicago Bears star Dave Duerson shot himself in the chest, saying in a note that he wanted his brain donated to the study of football head injuries.

What would they be wanting to ban if some football player beat his girlfriend to death with a golf club?  He might just choke her out with his bare hands; what do we ban then?

I have pondered from time to time, which would be worse--a quick deadly bullet, or being ripped to pieces with a chain saw, or an axe.  The truth is that if guns had never been invented, there would still be murders, mayhem and misery.  But the gun is the one thing that might give potential victims a fighting chance.

Bob Costas is just another shallow thinking liberal with a microphone.

Cars and alcohol kill more than handguns every year. Yet how many times do you hear ban cars or alcohol?

I agree with boycotts on shows, stations, stores and media personallities that promotes taking away of our freedoms.

Actually china has the highest suicide rate- hows gun control working out over there? Hanging is actually the most common method of suicide so I guess we need more rope control laws.

Death by bathtub or hotub rank high on accidental drowning.                                                           As with the hot tub the victims get  stoned or drunk and pass out.                                                     I knew an EMT that worked in LA and he said this was a fairly common  problem, and when it happens they are slow cooked. So we need some new hot tub laws in order to
protect us from ourselves. With a bath tub it should be a law that we are required to wear some sort
of head flotation devise before these two common items kill us all in our sleep !

I don't know how gun control working out over there - I've only been to China once, and don't follow that issue in that country. I don't see what bearing Chinese gun control and suicides have to do with Conan's post, or mine.

Hmmm.. alcohol and other drugs..  This mornings news says the guy was out with another woman the night before..  It appears that like th e"juice'  he wanted to act like a jerk...but couldn't stand the idea that she might try the same thing..
Amazing;.. Costas never mentioned those things...  Perhaps he ought to start a campaign that the NFL only hire proven moral persons...
Ummm..how much of the NFL would we lose?

One thing we should not forget..At the time he killed himself, he was already a cold blooded murderer..

A new report says that Costas does not advocate banning guns.  He recognizes and supports the Second Amendment--so says a close confidant.  His commentary was very poorly chosen and he should correct it if he actually does believe in liberty.

Costas supports the Second Amendment exactly the same as Oprah Winfrey, all guns should be illegal except those carried by her bodyguards.  Can't stand Costas who reminds me of most aging announcers that have more facelifts and hair replacements than movie stars.  Before his numerous plastic surgury routines, those bags under his eyes used to be his nu##s.
