CVA Optima loads
« on: December 03, 2012, 05:21:13 AM »
Just purchased a new CVA Optima Stainless Steel, 50 Cal. Muzzleloader and would like your input as to what to shoot out of it, Sabots, Powerbelt, Round Ball, Great Plains or whatever.  Anyone have a great idea what may print best at 100 yards?

I sighted one in for a buddy a couple of years ago...I ended up with 80grs FFF Goex behind a .430 Hornady 300gr XTP and a Harvester plain green sabot...

Replace the Goex with BH 209, 80 or 90 grain, and you have a load where you don't have to worry about moisture and corrosion. Hornady bullets in .452 with black Harvester sabots are also amazing.
