Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

If they do how are they suppose to live on that with all the price inflation around oil drilling areas? Relatives in Minot ND recently told me that average size houses that were severely flooded a couple of years ago are going for as much as $80,000 in stripped to the framework condition.

What's the point of working in a boom town without boom town wages. It's not just the price inflation, it's the perverse way of life. America's equivalent of the Chinese factory cities.

HORSEPATOOT. They don't want to pay a living wage?? Hiring FULL TIME?? If they pay transportation and motel room for a week for 50 people that will add up to big bucks. Take that money and add it to the hourly wages and watch the employment go way up. This story stinks. Why would they go to all that trouble and expense NOT to pay a decent wage?? POWDERMAN.  ::) ::)

They wont pay a good wage because that is the way John Menard rolls. He is arrogant and has a strong, hard working labor force in WI. If he cant get the workers he wants there for the wage he wants to pay, he would rather ship them in so he maintains the upper hand.  It is more then likely not optional for the employees to work there. Part of the agreement to take even, a lower level superviser jobs is, as stated in the contract, you put Menards ahead of everything else, family included, and agree to move any where Menard decides to send you at anytime.
P.S. I never worked for Menards but have worked closely with many that have and do, and they all say the samething.
Its a control thing with this company, I saw it many times first hand.

I read the article. First of all, Minot has to be one of the most desolate and univiting waste lands I-'ve ever been to. You'd have to be desperate or stupid to live there. Second, is menards a government agency? That seems lime an expensive way to staff some McJobs. Third, I'm surprised they are still in business. It's the last place I think of when I need home improvement and hardware supplies.

No menards real close to me but I shopped one in ILL. Overpriced stuff, I was not impressed with the service either. The employees were sullen faced which usually means they are unhappy. POWDERMAN.  :o :o
