Norton employee criticizes mandatory flu shot program       by WHAS11  WHAS11.com Posted on December 7, 2012 at 11:57 PM
Updated yesterday at 12:01 AM    (WHAS11) -- Thirteen-thousand Norton Healthcare employees must get a mandatory flu shot for the first time this year. The primary objective, according to medical officials, is to protect patients.

One employee who has worked in the Norton system for more than 20 years said she believes her rights are being taken away.

NOBODY SHOULD BE FORCED TO TAKE A FLU SHOT.
but if she calls in sick with the flu, she should be docked.
both sides have their rights.

one point i thought i have to go to the
emergency room. my girlfriend said i
had a high fever and was having
hallucinations.

i'll pass on any flu shots thank you.

RANGER. I'd imagine that you had other issues and doubt that the shot made you sick, just guessing.
I find it commendable that Norton is paying for these shots but have mixed feelings about them being required. Not being sick and passing the germs on in a hospitol is definitely a +. Not being sick and having to miss work is also a + for the workers, hospitol, and patients. Forcing somebody to take a shot that he may object to on religious grounds, even out of fear is not right either. I can see both sides. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

the flu virus was probably in but you hadn't shown systems yet, in that case the shot wouldn't do any good.
as a teenager I took the polio stuff on a sugar cube, and about two weeks later I was paralyzed in both hips.  the doctor said I probably had the polio virus in me, maybe from swimming in dirty creeks etc.  took 3 or 4 months to walk again.

As far as I'm concerned, NO employer has a right to force employees to accept anything into their bodies without a pre-existing contract signed at the time of hire.

In the 1950's and 1960's, it could be reasonably trusted that vaccines were safe and devoid of unknown additives.  Today, there is CONSIDERABLE doubt.  For instance, today, tetanus vaccines have whooping cough vaccines added and you have no choice in the matter.  What is being added to the flu vaccine without your knowledge?  Who knows?  If somebody guarantees you that nothing has been added, do you trust him/her?   My sphere of trust has diminished tremendously in the last five years.

I too think it is good of Norton to offer the shot. But I have not had the flu since my last flu shot 14 years ago. I was sicker that winter than I had been in a long time. Have not taken one since, and have not had the flu. I have had a couple bouts with bronchitis and head colds. But I work outside all winter long without having to use sick days. So I say "Here take mine" The only shot I want is of American Honey thank you.
