cannon pics
« on: December 09, 2012, 05:36:46 AM »
Hey, been a while! I back rom some recent travels and thought I'd share some pics. Loos like I'm heading to Libya next week for a bit. There ought to be some interesting stuff scattered about there!
Enjoy the pics...who can guess where they're from? The big mortars should give it away.

Don,

It has been a while a long while.  Glad to see back and you are safe and sound...you are headed out to a scarier place than I am.  Be safe and bring us back some good cannon pictures.

I still lurk here from time to time. I don't get to do much cannon work anymore. Between living in a subdivision with a small garage and increased work schedule kind of kills it.

My wife's not overly happy with the Libya work...but she's a very tolerant woman!

I was down in Peru a bit last month. The only cannon I saw there was stuck in the ground outside a monastery with concrete poured around the muzzle. Got some pretty good AK pics, though.  :o

I'm hoping to be in Algeria and Angola end of Spring. Not sure what's in Angola, but Algeria has lots of old fortresses.

It was really cool looking down the muzzles out over the channel aimed at the same locations they would have been hundreds of years ago. Much more fun than a museum room! I have another several dozen pics. High res pics from various angles...if somebody want's full sized pics PM me and I can try and email them to you.

I'd love to have that first mortar. Beautiful.... it would also be fun to shoot off now and again :)
