TC Encore poor group
« on: December 10, 2012, 11:38:22 PM »
I have a encore 50x209 that I have shot for some years and always has a good group. Checked zero on it sunday and out of 5 shots two were good and the other three were 6" low. Both groups were about 1 1/2" groups. The gun has always shot that size of group but never all over. Pulled scope to check base screws and all were good. Shot 3 more same think. Powder, bullets, primers and cleaning habits all the same. Any help? Late season is coming soon. Thanks

Had the same problem with my TC 209x50. How old is your powder? Had a couple of pounds of T7 that were several years old and the groups were terrible. Tried a new can and it was back to shooting spot on. I have since converted to Goex black powder in all of my muzzle loaders and haven't looked back since

I second the powder. Have a friend brought his 209 by and we couldn't get it to do didly. He left it with me and I shot it the next day using fresh powder and all was good. I didn't say anything about the new powder and when he shot it (150g pellets) it rolled him out from under his hat. Big difference.

Mounted old banner scope on encore today and shot 4 shots. 3 shots made a .75" hole at 100 yds. 4th bullet was 1" away. think that was my fault. Adjusted scope shot 3 more and got a 1.5" group about 1" high at 100yds. Now im ready for season but have to get scope exchanged or sent in. dose Cabelas exchange and send in or do i have to send. Salesman at Gander MT said they will replace and then they send in. I might have to see if Cabelas will do the same. I have box and receipt.
