bullet seating and roll crimp
« on: December 11, 2012, 09:31:04 AM »
I use a separate crimp die on everything but 38 special- 357 magnum. The RCBS dies I have seem to be a bugger getting them set for the correct depth and a firm roll crimp. I usaully have at least 4 or 5 bullets to pull before I get it right. Everytime I change caliber or bullet wieght or brand I have to start all over. Anyone have any tips that I am missing?

don't set the die to crimp , seat all bullets , back the seating stem out and adjust the die to crimp . IE; do it in two seperate steps. Or buy a Redding profile crimp die. Profile crimps work better for me as if adjusted correctly the bullet cant move .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I do what Shootall suggested, seat and crimp in separate steps using the same die.
