Victor Magazine Question
« on: February 13, 2004, 02:13:44 AM »
I have aquired a High Standard Victor from Hartford Conn. I am looking to purchase spare magazines for it. When I look at any of the sites that carry them they list the models they fit by letter designations such as HD, B and such. It is not a military model so I know those are not the mags I need but I am unsure as to which letter model I will need.

Victor Magazine Question

357, I just bought a High Standard Victor made at East Hartford this week. I too was looking for a spare magazine. I found two originals at a local gunshop. The gunshop owner told me any High Standard magazine would work from a Trophy, Victor, 106 , 107, or the later Military models. I guess these guns are somewhat fussy about feeding from the magazine properly. When you get one to work perfectly ( I'm talking one mis-feed in several hundred) mark it some way and don't drop it. I was also told to stay away from after cheap market varieties if you don't find an original. Brownells have some good replacements for around $30. I hope this helps. Good luck!
You mean to say there are rifles other than old Winchester leverguns ?

I've owned my Victor since the late 70's, and tried all the aftermarket mags I could get my hands on.  NONE OF THEM FEED!!!!!  Stick with original mags and you should have no problems.  I currently have 10 mags for mine and I get an occasional failure to feed but it is usually traced back to the ammo I'm trying to feed it.  Great gun and very accurate.
