hammer not cocking

on my old contender started not cocking the hammer. the sear cocks and it will dryfire but the hammer will not cock i pulled the trigger housing and didn't see anything broken it looks like the trigger housing isn't pushing the bars up far enough  that cock the hammer i can take a pick or small screwdriver and push the bars and the hammer cocks. any ideas before i call the factory tomorrow

Is this with a barrel that has worked in the past?  If not then it may need locking bolts polished, or the bolts and mating surfaces cleaned.  If it has worked in the past a good cleaning may be all that is needed.
Also, if you changed grips the grip bolt may be to long.  back it off a turn or two and try it.  You may need to add a washer under the head of the bolt, or shorten it some to get things working again.

Hello you will get others to chime in I would have to ask do you have other barrels to try first ,and after that the springs need to be checked. how long ago did you a hammer spring it.

well after giving it a good cleaning in preparation to fully take the frame apart i found that the hammer spring was broken. it was the old thin style double spring and half was broken. so it still worked till a small piece of the spring got caught in the hammer sear area.replaced it with the newer heaver single style spring and everything works i'm glad i put a small parts kit together just have to buy a spare spring to put back in the kit
