.270 Weatherby Magnum Mark V
« on: December 13, 2012, 12:58:08 PM »
A local shop has one marked Made in U.S.A. with a Meopta Artemis 6x 42mm scope on it for $799.99. The metal looks nice but the stock has a few scratches. This guy will always come down quite a bit. It seems cheap and I've been wanting a Mark V in .300 or .257 Weatherby. The scope has a strange European reticule but is very clear. Not sure about the caliber.

One thing for sure it's not either of the weatherby calibers you said you wanted Swampy.  :o I'd hold out for a 257 WM myself. I think it's the best of the weatherby calibers. It was Roy's favorite too.

I have a 270wby in a mkv ultralight.  i was looking for a 257 when i came across a closeout at a shop that was going out of business a few years ago. one of the most overlooked wby rounds. look at the ballistics on the factory 130gr tsx load. thge 270 bee essentially gives you the same trajectory of the 257 with the added punch of 130-150gr (or up to 180gr woodleigh) bullets. light recoil and I've never shot a deer twice with it. jump on it!
