LC Smith repair
« on: December 14, 2012, 03:39:46 PM »
My older LC Smith 16 gauge has a broken safety spring.  This is an older shotgun and it has a sort of flat spring.  I need to find someone who can find an older spring and repair this shotgun.  I live in Ohio, but would consider shipping to the right gunsmith,

Star1pup-- I've included a couple of links at the bottom. One goes to a really good schematic the othe to NumericGunparts catalog. The parts house shows the safety spring as available for under $5.. If you can remove the butt stock replacing this spring is quite easy... zReplacing the buttstock is easy if you know the trick to holding the toplever spring compressed while replacing the trigger plate. If you're interested in this we can help with directions. Otherwise Simmons Gun Specialties can replace the spring for you. It is really not that difficult..

I cannot print all the parts legend for some reason, but this helps. The only thing I see is that the broken spring they showed me looked like it was sort of a double of the one in the view.  It's hard to explain, but where the one in the view has the skinny piece that ends right at the 30, the one they showed me had the same thing on the other side of the spring.  I'm going to get this gun home next week and if I can't get it fixed locally I'll send to you.  Either I'm over simplifying the procedure or they are over complicating it.  Thanks for the help.
