Red dot sight for 44 mag
« on: December 16, 2012, 10:06:56 AM »
Have a Taurus Raging Bull that I am wanting a red dot sight for, the 2x burris is not working.  Have looked at the Burris Speed dot and the Ultr Dot pan A reflex sight at Midway.  Anyone have experience with one of these ?

The Ultra Dot Pan AV sight did well on my 475 revolver for target shooting in day light, but for low light it is too bright.  The Ultradot tube sights are also tough against recoil.  They adjust dimmer for low light.  If I run a battery down it will solve the low light problem with the Pan sight.  Reflex sights provide some advantages for revolvers.  They take up less space so you can use a smaller holster and they are lighter.  On the other hand, tube sights have a tougher mounting system and the added weight can also be a benefit.
Study after study has shown how dangerous distracted driving is yet people continue to talk on their cell phones while driving. Driving in the U.S. requires your full attention. Many states and countries have made it illegal to use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and the federal government should follow their lead. Banning the use of cell phones while driving would have the added benefit of making the no-texting law enforceable.

I use Ultra dots on most of my hunting handguns.. I would not use anything else. I am talking about the tube tube type, not the halo type sights. Have been using them for years and never a broblem even on my 500 Mag or 475 Linebaugh with full loads. I have one that has over 5000 rounds of 500 Mags under it's belt.

I'm also playing with the Trijicon RMR on my 500 JRH.  It has coated glass and you can turn the dot down small and still see it against a bright background.  Rated for 1,100 G's.  Reliable elevation and windage adjustments also.  It looked tiny and not worth the expense looking at it from a distance, but  functionally it is too good.
