Sec of state kerry??
« on: December 16, 2012, 04:18:28 PM »
Secretary Kerry?    Leah Barkoukis
Dec 15, 2012

According to Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed’s source, President Obama has chosen Massachusetts Senator John Kerry to replace Hillary Clinton now that Susan Rice removed herself from the list of candidates. The details:
The White House has not confirmed the selection.

It is widely known that Kerry was interested in the job, and the former presidential nominee emerged as the clear favorite after another contender, UN Ambassador Susan Rice, withdrew from consideration last week.
[…]

Kerry, who is rumored to be Clinton's choice to follow her to the State Department, is widely respected on the international stage and currently chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

His spot on the prestigious committee will be filled by Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), according to the Sun-Times.

The good news for Republicans is that if the White House confirms Kerry as the pick, all eyes will be drawn to his empty seat in Massachusetts...and the possibility of Scott Brown running in a special election -- and winning.
“It would seem that some Democratic strategists are concerned about such an appointment because of the special election that would take place to replace him,” Duffy said. “They are worried that Scott Brown would run – and win. The President usually has ignored such political concerns and may do so again, especially since Democrats have 55 seats so the majority is not in danger.”

West echoed these concerns, adding “In terms of the Senate, his
[Kerry's] appointment would create a real opening for a Scott Brown comeback. Brown has the name identification and fundraising network that would make him a very strong contender for the position. I see this as a competitive race.”
Brown has said many times before, including in his recent farewell speech on the Seante floor, defeat is only temporary.

What an insult to the USA to have a reprobate like John Kerry as sec. of state.  But when you think about it, how does it get any worse than the hildabeast?

Kerry and Hillary are both disgusting at best.

a question about Kerry: was the issue about his discharge from the US Navy ever resolved? the last i heard about it was that he was discharged from the navy under "Less than honorable" conditions.

i know his fellow veterans think very little of him for his activities while in Vietnam.

Democratic Party consolation prize for having missed the Presidency by "that much"? Worked for the current SoS did it not? His father was an ambassador, he has been over seas several times, he looks good in a suit. What do you expect, Colin Powell?

The GOP won't throw Kerry out like they did Ms. Rice, because they think they'll get Scott Brown back into that Senate seat in Mass. after his loss to Elizabeth Warren in November. That will probably backfire, though--- the Dems are planning to run Ted Kennedy, Jr. for that post if Kerry gets SoS.

my source was following the "Swift-boat" controversy when Kerry was running for pres...i. along with millions of Americans, watched testimony from his fellow veteran swift-boat crews, that was NOT favorable about his military service...i have no interest in reading any more about Kerry...and, no,i did not serve with him in VN...i was over in that part of the world long before he was...

IIRC, bill clinton used the phrase when Hillary was running for pres: "Hillary got swift-boated"...or something similar.

what is the answer to the question about his "Less than honorable" release from active duty?

i suspect there was some validity to what occurred, or there wouldn't have been so many swift boat veterans step forward. and IIRC, kerry did not deny, or defend, himself very fiercely...and it has been said that the "Swift-boating" did contribute to his NOT be elected.

I suspect that O'Bummer critics are gonna be outraged with whoever he chose's so this is god as any! Look at the bright side, they should all be gone in four years. Don't expect any help from the Republicans on this. With their track record there is no reason to think they might do anything at all about it.
