1986 410 question

I know the factory wont fit barrels prior to 87, is there a reason? Can i swap another shotgun barrel with mine? Thanks

A different company, H&R Inc (bankrupt in 1986), made it, H&R1871 won't fit barrels to anything made by them. But you can, see the barrel fitting info in the FAQs sticky, there's also an H&R firearms timeline.

As said, you can do it, but really, why bother? Used shotguns complete are so cheap that you can get another gauge for little more than the price of a barrel.
