.457 round ball lead in .45-70

found some soft lead round ball .457s. would like to use them in my .45-70. anyone have a source of data for these?

I don't know of a data source, but a lot of folks have shot round balls.  I shot a few for giggles with Trail Boss in my .32-20 and .45-70.  I don't think you can get hurt doing that.

The diameter is a little small, you might get some leading. If you know what powder you'll be using just weigh the balls and contact the powder maker with your data and intentions.

I load these with 10 gr. Unique and a .457 Round ball for varmint loads in my 32" barreled BC.  I use the .45-70 neck expander die to seat the balls consistently.  Just past the hemisphere point then kiss them with my Lee FCD die.  No filler or anything else needed.  I've heard that for shorter barrels only requires about 6-8 gr.  Just be careful developing loads to be sure bore is clear each time.  I actually blew the smoke outta my barrel each shot to be sure I could see sky.  ;)
