83 sight adjustment
« on: December 24, 2012, 07:55:59 AM »
Can't find anything in the 83 manual about how to adjust the rear sight. At 50 yards is shooting 'way, 'way low. Also, if click stops, what's the value of one click? Can somebody please advise? Many thanks!

You raise the rear sight.  That is what one does on any adjustable sight revolver.
Shoot a group with the sight at a given position say at 25 yards and then raise it 3 clicks and shoot another group,  measure how much the two groups differ in placement and divide by 3 to get the value of each click.
Rather simple really.
They do have replaceable front sights too you know.  If it still shoots too low after adjusting the rear buy another front sight that is lower,  shorter or what ever you call it.

It is also dependent on bullet weight. Heavy loads require a taller sight (in general) than a lighter load due to recoil and the time the bullet actually leaves the barrel.  There is a chart on the FA web-sight regarding recommended heights if your was owned by someone before you who might have changed it.
