I live in Rockland County, NY and my name and address was published and pinpointed on a map. But what was most surprising it seems half of my neighborhood were licensed handgun owners. The paper's web publication is Lohud.com. The paper is the Journal News and is part of the Gannet newspaper empire. They have always been staunch anti-gunners so this is no surprise. There were several hundred letters to the editor and not a single one supported their action. This is a newspaper which has been in decline for years and is trying their best to stay alive. Here's a list of people at the news paper and their home addresses someone published in the letters to the editor (it seems their numbers were disconnected):

Just a followup. Here's one of the letters of hundreds which were posted in letters to the editor. Apparently they posted all present and retired police officers and their addresses-since their firearms are also registered with the county:
 After 30 years of protecting people and putting criminals behind bars and most of them for a long sentence my safety and the safety of my family members are at risk. Criminials sit in jail looking at ways to get back at the person(s) who put them there. For the many years that I was in Law Enforcement I attempted to make sure that a criminial that I had arrested could not locate me or my family. I was not listed in phones books, used P.O. Boxes, etc so a creep could not find where I lived. Now the Urinal News put my address and the addresses of many other retired Law Enforcement Officers's in the paper where our lives (and the lives of our families) could be in jepordy. The Urinal News just gave many more criminals access to firearms, and its a lot cheaper than buying them on the street Great Job Urinal News. I already cancelled my subscription.

Governor Cuomo of NY on a talk show today commented that he's leaning toward the "confiscation" of various types firearms in which the owners would be paid a "fair" price. If he does it then other states will follow.
