Ron Paul Slams NRA Proposal


Everybody’s favorite libertarian has some choice words for the NRA’s proposal to have armed officers guard every school. “School shootings, no matter how horrific, do not justify creating an Orwellian surveillance state in America,” the Republican congressman said in a statement Monday. Paul is the first GOP member in Congress to publically oppose the NRA’s plan. “Do we really want to live in a world of police checkpoints, surveillance cameras, metal detectors, X-ray scanners, and warrantless physical searches?” Paul asked. The congressman also shunned the proposal for more gun control, saying it only provides the illusion of government protection............

Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Paul read a lot more into the NRA statement than I did. Of course he is a lot smarter than I am is probably why. He managed to get elected to Congress where he gets better medical care and a huge retirement among other things compared to me for doing virtually nothing during his tenure except talking.

I realise that many on here consider him almost a saint but to me he is just another windbag in Congress. He is the perfect example of the old Texas saying "All hat, no cattle".

So can we assume Ron Paul feels that our money in banks should recieve better protection than our children ?

Allow teachers, or anyone who clears instruction classes, to be armed.

I agree we are getting way too damn close to a police state and the NRA pushes us closer.

They play politics and to expose the asinine stance of "gun free" zones, much less saying simply these laws,  allowed the murder dozens of our children is not proper politics.

Yep , Don't let facts , science , or truth get in the way.
Just say something long enough so people might just start believing appears to be common themes nowadays.

My bank doesn't have armed guards. It does have free coffee and cookies. I have not seen armed guards in banks for years. Insurance is cheaper than hiring guards and less likely to get one sued.

Who guards our children when they are out of school? In the park? At friends' homes? Home alone?
Learn to live with it. Tragedies happen every day. We can never make life 100% safe but our obsession with that goal is making life less bearable. A child dies in school shooting, or drowns, or killed in auto accident, or house fire, are they not equally tragic. Is the child not just as dead? Do the survivors not grieve just as much. What is the difference? One is a family tragedy, the other is a media event. One is soon forgotten by all but their intimates. The other is exploited for as long as it is profitable.
We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

I did quite a lot of research on his voting record and listed several votes giving H.B. #s in my Sig line along with the many times he just didn't bother to vote.
But someone couldn't stand the truth and deleted them.   I wonder who??
