A new action lever. A pistol. 35 Rem, 357 Mag, 300 BLK.

Interesting, interesting. I may have to give the 300 BLK a serious look... but why isn't it available in the compact?

The new caliber choices are great but I think they are missing the boat not offering the Scout in 357 Mag. jedman

Same here but judging from the constant threads of people rechambering to something larger, I can't say that I really blame them.

I agree. A 357mag with an 18 inch barrel, with either compact or standard stock would be dynamite. Great economical fun at the range, deer worthy to 100 yards or so, light on the shoulder. Since they now offer the 35 Rem, perhaps what the need to do is go ahead and offer a 35 Rem Max as well. That might satisfy those who have to have one.

Also, in typical CVA fashion, its hard to decipher what exactly they are offering. The pictures show the 300 BLK with the 22 inch barrel, but in the text it says that the 300 BLK will be a 16.5" threaded barrel. I suppose just like the Apex barrel I linked to. If so, that is going to be my next gun. I want it in stainless if possible.

Nice I like the new action lever. CVA must have listened to its customers because when I filled out the warranty on my 2010 Optima I said the jagged edges on the release lever sucked and I'm sure others felt the same way.

I would like to get both the pistol and a rifle in .300 BLK from them. Doesn't appear that they're too interested in selling anything.

The Scout's are great guns. It's nice to see them offering a pistol now too. I can see another Scout in my future for sure.

tell you what that pistol sure does look good.if it shoots as good as the scout rifles that ive read about i just might have to pick one up in 44 mag to go with my marlin an rossi 92 in 44 mag.kind of like the idea of a poor mans TC contender.

The new catalog is on the website now. Turns out the Scout is no only available in stainless and the price has been sent up hill. The original Scout is now the Hunter. It is only available blued and has no barrel fluting. It appears to be priced to compete with the Handi.

The hunter is a sports academy gun, they made a deal to sell through them only.

The Scout still survives.

If they made the Hunter in .44 Mag, I'd have on on order ASAP. Right now no one has the Scout in stock. It's going to be interesting how much the raise prices on them.

I am really glad that CVA is going to continue to make the Scout as I thought maybe I had missed the opportunity to pick one up in a 7mm-08. I purchased a 243 stainless compact model a few months ago because I was in search of a light compact hunting rifle to take on longer hikes. I picked up a Eberlestock X1 at about the same time and quickly figured the two were, at least for me, the perfect combo. The X1 has a built in rifle scabbard and Scout, having a narrow cross section, really slides in and out of the scabbard easily plus the over length of the Scout is short so it only sticks out of the top the scabbard maybe 4 inches. Makes for a real nice package.
Strong lock up, good/great scope mount, nice stock plus recoil pad, light weight, fluted barrel, nice trigger, low hammer height, nice accuracy, nice finish and now available camo stock plus improved action release really made/makes this rifle worth more than other rifles it was being compared against. So if CVA needs to charge a little more to keep this rifle around I think it will be worth it.
So when the second version becomes available I definitely will pick one up plus the new pistol version looks pretty awesome too.

The Scout .300 BLK should be in select Academy Stores in mid March.
Had a manager at the local Academy store look it up and that was what their computer indicated.

Also, the old action release being in front of the trigger guard would cause the action to open if you carried the rifle across your forearm. That's really the only complaint I have about mine in .44 magnum.
