Wave of panic buyers getting larger! Packed show!!!
« on: December 29, 2012, 06:28:55 AM »
Went to a gun show this morning and I told my buddies it was going to be packed when we got there.  The show opened 30 minutes early (which they have never done before) because the lines were so long!  We got there about 15 minutes early and by the time we got in there were so many people that it was almost at a stand still inside.  People were buying all kinds of stuff not just looking and the prices were INFLATED.  $48 for a box of 50 9mm ammo ??? ??? ???

Wishing you all the best!

isnt it funny how the media tells us how people are clamoring for gun control .

yet peoples actions and the giant crowd you just witnessed tells us the real truth

No panic buying for me, though i kinda wish I'd gotten an AR a few months ago.

I'm looking at a fairly new Browning A-bolt Stalker in .308 with a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40 scope on it... excellent condition... guy wants 650, I'm hoping to get it for 500. Panic price?

Yellowtail, what are you going to do with that 'sniper rifle'?  :o ;)

I too wish I had picked up an AR before now.

Pmags were $40 each. Ebay is even worse on mags.  The things that have gone up are the AR, AK and other high cap guns and magazines.  Doesn't seem to be any panic on on the bolt guns...yet.

One guy was selling defense style hatchets.  I asked him if they were single action or semi auto.  He said they were semi auto and were equipped with silencers too ;D

yt i'd pick a rifle that has a less ominous
sounding name than stalker.
the libs would say " that guy has a weapon
for stalking people and we need to ban it"

until next deer season, make holes in paper & perhaps a couple coyotes... then it'll go hunting. I don't really  need it... the Marlin does fine... but I kinda want it.

I went to my usual yearly gun show in mid November (before Sandy Hook). It was so clogged up we could barely move. First gun show of my life where I bought absolutely nothing. Could barely get up to the tables or find a salesman free. My buddy and I said forget this crap and left after an hour.

The organizers should strike while the iron is hot and set up month-long shows in every US city. The NRA, GOA, etc could offer free show admission to anyone who signs up for membership.

Yup, gun shows should be weeklong events..monthly in the same locations. The last one here in Charlotte NC I tried to attend had a line of vehicles 1/2 mile long just to find parking nonexistent upon entrance to the show grounds. We left.

I am now slightly regretting having gone with a bolt rifle recently in .308.  Ammo is nonexistant and reloading is my only short term option. 30-06 however, seems to still be in stock everywhere.

.22 bulk packs are gone too. Lots of shotgun dove loads though..

I know the feeling JonnyReb.   During the last ammo panic I could not find 9mm or  38spl ammo anywhere but Wally-world's shelves had plenty of .40S&W.  That's when I decided it was time to get a .40.

I reload and cast my own bullets. No worries.

I don't do gun shows anymore. Don't really need anything. I did however several years ago notice that they aren't the same as they once were. Not that many bargains.

Last show I went to was all camo clothing and taiwan martial arts junk.  Not a decent firearm in the building. Just recently I bought a Bushmaster upper assembly for $600. on gun brokers. Same dealer had the same upper for sale (a least the same photos) and the price was a high bid of $997.94 with a day left before the bidding closed out.  I noticed there had been 22 bids.  When I bought, mine was the only bid.

Panic buying at gun shows is like tryin to get the last gallon of milk in the store before the hurricane hits. High prices, long lines, and sold out frustration, is all for those that put things off, and they deserve it.
It's like when Rodney King got his butt kicked by the police, and his neighborhood decided to burn their own damn neighborhood in protest. Go figure that strategy out. ::)  All those anti-gun hollyweirdos started callin their fellow hollyweird buddy Charlton Heston wantin to borrow a gun.

Dee,  you are exactly right.  Human nature is not that difficult to predict.  I am afraid that in the next 4 years we will see many incidents of panic buying in the grocery stores.  The flash mobs are not being stopped and we are not even in an emergency situation...yet.  Look at how the 3+ year supply of magazines were wiped out in 3 days.  The supply chain is fragile.

Don't know if you were in Denver.  With the background checks taking several days, you would have to fetch your purchase from somewhere, or figure a way to ship it.   That is with Colorado's law about all purchases being  vetted. The ammo guys always irritate me, as do the overpriced pieces of junk.  I don't waste the time anymore.
