Nutty Neighbor, ASPCA fruitcup
« on: January 01, 2013, 05:00:47 PM »
My cousin called me. Appears he has a new neighbor who moved from the city into country this past year. His wife went by with some freezer jam when she first moved in to say welcome. She came back from her visit and said  the women introduced herself and through conversation had said she had previously worked for ASPCA.

Apparently someone "in the area" reported his 2 Akita's out at "all hours of the night in bitter cold with no shelter" is how the deputy put it when he spoke with my cousin.  Hmm wonder who that could be???

My cousin explained the dogs are working dogs. He has had a problem with coy-dogs over the last 3 or 4 months and the dogs are doing their job protecting theeir sheep, goats, and donkeys. They bed down with the herds at night and have access to 3 run-ins and main barn if need be as well as water. They prefer to stay in the open field.

That was good enough for the deputy. They had a cup of coffee and he went on his way.

Some folks need to just stay in the city.

a friend had a new neighbor like that
move in to an adjacent new housing development
out in former countryside that introduced themselves
that same way. " hi, my name is so-and-so. i just
moved in next to your pasture over there. is that
your animals out there?"  " i just wanted to you
to know that if i think you're mistreating those
animals, i'm going to report you, and i don't see
any water or shelter or food for them."
(the water and small barn were on the far side
opposite the newbies if they had of bothered to
investigate instead of flinging accusations)

some folks. . . . . . :(

We have a new neighbor from the city also. They live on a county highway. Posted a slow down sign. When asked about it they replied, we are farmers and have free range chickens and rabbits(domestic) I think their herd is shrinking. Once a week there is a new carcass on the road. Some people need to stay in the city.

Unfortunately more and more of them are moving out of the city and bringing thier thinking with them. Quite a learning curve for some of them.

My dog stayed out side for 16 years , he was a very big lab. I let him in the house several times he would stay an hour or so then beg to be let out. The vet said that allowing a hunting dog in then out when hunting can do more harm than leaving him out .
Here we get the yuppies that buy 5 acres and think they own the county. I was hunting on a 400 acre tract we lease and decided to eat lunch out near the main road. Across the road was a small pcs. of land and the owner drove over and informed me I could not hunt his land and I needed to move on. I informed him I was on land I could hunt and he was now on posted land and he needed to move on. He called the game warden who showed up and ask alot of questions and checked permission slips then said I was OK and he would tell the other land owner . I ask if he would also tell them if they interfeared again I would press charges under the new Va. law that protected hunters from harrasment while hunting. He must has as the land owner has since not bothered any of us.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
