Will Traditions Vortek barrels fit my Handi ?
« on: January 04, 2013, 07:40:33 PM »
I hope so because I just noticed Traditions makes the Vortek in a pistol frame.
Anybody tried to swap Handi and Traditions barrels ?

My Traditions Buckstalker barrel latches right onto my frame and fires etc.  The only issue is that the forend is held on totally different with the traditions.  If you want it on a handi frame, you would have to figure out a different way to hold on the forend.  8)

I'm sure if you ask quick, he can probably tell you.  Most likely he's already done it! ;D ;D ;D

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

Sorry, I haven't, only worked with Rossi Wizard barrels(Handi-Wizard in the FAQs), the only Traditions gun I've ever owned was a POS .45 Kentucky pistol, I gave it away as a blanket prize at a BP Rendevous 20yrs ago, bout the only thing it almost did reliably was go boom, my Pedersoli flint pistol shot circles around it!  ;D

Thats awesome im looking to get a buckstalker over the next few months so its nice to know that I can probably use the barrel on a handi frame if i get lucky enough to have it lock up like yours did. be nice to take a C-F handi barrel, .50 cal barrel and 20 gauge barrel along to some of my hike in hunting spots for a multi-species hunt.

I already owned the buckstalker when I decided to see if it would latch on.  8)  I have a .58 cal huntsman barrel too now but I'm making that into a 20 ga. smoothbore shotgun w/ screw chokes for the same frame.

I was speaking more to the OP because it doesn't sound like he has purchased the barrrel yet... makes perfect sense if you already have one.

for me its because I live in Canada so no barrel accessory program available. I can buy a new traditions for about $ 200 and they are readily available.

You can get barrels on CGN also. LeBaron's carries base model Handi's for $259, Cabela's Canada for $279 and Ellwood Epps for $285.... watch the sales too... I got a Handi .30/30 for $240 with free shipping a couple months ago.

I have purchsed handi's and other firemarms from all three of those Canadian retailers along with my local mom and pop, just depends on which place has what i want in stock at the time, most of my business goes to my local mom and pop store though as long as they can get what i want in a reasonable time if they don't have it in stock already.

I was interested in the Vortek because they make a PISTOL receiver.
Just something else to play with.
Maybe a 357 Maxi pistol.
