CMP & Battle Rifles
« on: January 08, 2013, 03:13:50 AM »
I get totally sick when changing the channels and running across Matthews and Sharpton on TV….what bozos…total frickn idiots…as you probably all know..they want to go after the CMP Program rifles in Feinsteins dreams of gun control…the same rifles that gave us freedom from aggressors in Europe and Asia….and the Pacific…I think Patton even called the M1 Garand one of the finest battle implements ever produced…other nations have used these rifles in their call for freedom…South Vietnam…South Korea…just to name a couple…these rifles are now being called to be incinerated…after serving for our freedom..And the freedom of our neighbors….the Japanese commander who was trained in the USA..and made the comment, that attacking the mainland of the US would be a bad idea because of the arms in private households…duh…I am sure someone will help me with a name here…I see my dad with pictures of the Garand….pictures of the M1 Carbine…..the BAR’S…the Thompson…it is ashamed that these beautiful pieces be scrutinized as assault rifles…when they were used for defense and freedom of our nation…the Vietnam era..where kids and young men were told to go fight someone else’s fight…and by the way take this M16 or M14 to kill the enemy with…the same ones that are now brutal…because the government is no longer handing them out, I am really very concerned with what is going to happen here…we have foreign aggressors…we have internal aggressors…I live in Texas..We have a wall that seperates us from Mexico….a lot of people and politicians view this wall as barbarian and cruel….China has a wall..It is called the Great Wall of China..but it is viewed as a wonder of the world and a piece of history……go figure

I think the most important point here is that of all violent crimes committed with guns, only like 3% were committed with a rifle - and the AR-15 is a small portion of that 3%. Politicians are responding to an irrational fear of weapons, plain and simple. They damn well know the facts and they know more gun laws won't affect crime. They just see "assault weapons" as a logical first step.

As far as the wall goes, we shoulda built it out of stone and we shoulda built it so big you can see it from space.  Then it'd be a landmark!

I'm not totally sure, but I think that both the M1 Garand and the Mini 14 both fell outside of the definition of assault weapon during the last ban.  I'll bet that the Mini 14 is specifically included in the definition thius next round , along with the SKS.

Maybe the new Mini Garands, called Mini-Gs, are the best bet.  Fixed 8 round magazine well, in .30-06 or .308.  I believe this would take care of any problem you are ever likely to encounter, and you would be making sure that every shot counts.

control of people is what gun control is about. the sleaze in chief wants an internal armed force equal to our military, why? TO CONTROL US. It is all about keeping us in line no matter how outrageous the government becomes. Lock and load brothers and sisters, lock and load.

Manny - I think you're right. I'd be willing to bet Mini's and the SKS are both on the list by name.  I wouldn't be surprised if they went after anything with a detachable magazine.  I already know pistol grips and thumbhole stocks are on the hit list.  It's a shame to think of all the legitimate sporting arms that would be covered by such a far reaching ban.  I know they always say we can keep em if we already have em, but it seems this time they wanna tie that to some kinda registration scheme as well.  I'm kinda worried how far they'll push it this time. If they get their way, they'll just want more and more, next time.

Side note: I suddenly find myself very interested in lever guns...

FWIW, the M1-A could not be sold with a bayonet lug while the AWB was in force. of course it was a 50 dollar item to add later. just saying...........

I have a bad feeling that the Libs in power will just want to grab up the California statutes on all of this, and have them adopted nationwide.  As a legislative matter, that makes it extremely easy to do.  "Well, this is already the law in the largest and most powerful State in America, and it seems to be working pretty well."

Thus, as I understand it, mags limited to 10 rounds, and they cannot be easily detachable. You must use a "tool" to do it.

It is also not beyond belief that they would require all outstanging ARs etc. to be taken to a gunsmith within one year to be converted into a California compliant rifle.   And if ya don't, its a felony one year out.

As I  further understand it, the SKS is absolutely banned in California.

They've already made it clear that the California AWB is not enough. Rather than classifying assault weapons as rifles with a pistol grip AND a detachable magazine, they're after any semi-auto that has a detachable mag OR a pistol grip. Feinstein also views thumbhole stocks and "bullet button" mag releases as a "workaround" - designed to circumvent the law. Furthermore, they want to reclassify the rifles we already own as Class III weapons, so we have to pay a fee and subject ourselves to random searches, etc.  To top it all off, it seems Obama thinks its ok to push something through via executive order, rather than addressing the issue with rational debate.

I will NOT obey an executive order. THEY ARE ILLEGAL. You cannot find anywhere in the Constitution that grants such a power to the President. We have a Senate and Congress of cowards too afraid to tell the President NO. Shame on them.

SA I don't feel you are alone. The president will have four years to accomplish his goal. The next president can reciend his ex orders. (what a wonderful running point for the next canidate ). So it might become a game of who blinks first.

Shootall, I agree with you. As I see it, the big problem is surviving the next 4 years. There may not be elections in 2016 if the Liar in Chief has his way. I truly believe Hussein plans to set himself up as the first emperor of America.

Why else would he want an INTERNAL armed force equal to our entire military? He wants to be Dictator in Chief.

Merle, Mini-Garand, sometimes wrongly called a Tanker. Check the Fulton Armory writeup on the T26. They correctly state the shortened Garand rifle was intended for jungle warfare and paratroopers. The term 'tanker' showed up after WW2.

I'm not totally sure, but I think that both the M1 Garand and the Mini 14 both fell outside of the definition of assault weapon during the last ban No they could not be sold if new  andif they had bayonet lugs and flash suppressors had to be removed and muzzle brakes installed or nothing at all. There was a list of options a gun cold not have three of if I remember correctly . Pistol grip , flash supp.  expandable stock, bayonet lug etc. .  I'll bet that the Mini 14 is specifically included in the definition thius next round , along with the SKS. think so

Maybe the new Mini Garands, called Mini-Gs, are the best bet.  Fixed 8 round magazine well, in .30-06 or .308.  I believe this would take care of any problem you are ever likely to encounter, and you would be making sure that every shot counts.one disadvantage is it is clip fed not to be confused with a detachable magazine . They would be lost easy and from experince they damage easy. Try a M1-A Socom or Squad Scout . Both are very good choices if you can handle the recoil and tote the weight.

the BM59 was a modified M1 with a shortened barrel, chambered in 7.62x51 and used an M14 magazine. Italy had plenty of M1s after WW2 and it was much cheaper than buying new M14s.
