Remington fail
« on: January 08, 2013, 05:56:11 AM »
I bought a new Remington 700 this fall and sent in the rebate for $40. Before I sent in the rebate I emailed Remington to check to see if indeed the rifle qualified for the rebate and was assured that it did qualify. I got what I thought was my rebate yesterday but it was a rejection saying that I would not be receiving my rebate. I wonder why a big company  like Remington feels it has to screw the buyer of their product for $40 promised when you bought their product. I called their resolution center and got a big run around from the guy I talked to. I will no longer be buying any new products from Remington. I will still buy used if I find what I want. I guess that is what happens when a formerly Great gun company gets bought up by a company like Cerberus Capital Management that seems to run everything it touches into the ground. To me the rebate offering was just a bait and switch type of deal except their was no switch, only the bait.

Exactly my take on the company and their products.  I've caught a lot of flack about
my "in-store" evaluations of their REM 700 rifles of recent manufacture which, to me,
are crap in a long box.

I would still like to find an old one in good condition and get familiar with it
and learn for myself its reputation as a high-quality, accurate rifle.

If you don't submit properly you don't get the refund.  That's all that happened.  Remington still makes the best rifles, shotguns, and pistols you can buy.  All there is to it.

You have to send all the stuff they asked for.  The place that handles rebates isn't Remington.  They just look at what you sent.  It can't be copies and the dates have to be right.

I didn't mean to start anything but the OP was told by Rem he was going to get rebate but didn't.

He had to have  barcode off box, serial # and receipt lot of hoops for $40.

Here something Rem post what to do

If I send all those paper in and got rejection letter I'd be calling them up and find out what happened.
