My Zastava 458, the makeover.

I
couple years ago, I bought a Serbian Zastava in .458 Winchester Mag. My idea was to have a big bore Mauser that I could shoot ala~45/70 with cast bullets. It has been a real treat, and the metalwork was straight Mauser through and through. The stock left something to be desired. In short it was a plain dishwater blonde. The checkering was lackluster and it didn't have the subdued good looking appearance that you would explect on a Mauser, or 458.
Sooo.... I considered putting a laminated stock on it, but thought I would try this first: I went to work with a draw file, removed the "checkering" and stained and refinished the stock. I used hand rubbed satin urethane for a finish, and I thought I would share.
It looks a little more what I would expect in a rifle's appearance. The only trouble is, my winter project only took two weeks.
Thanks for looking, JeffG

What's the barrel length on your rifle?

The gun has a 22 inch barrel. The model is a Z78. The rifle's handy, and a real thumper.
11/2019 adding a finished pic to update.
