Tiny sundial cannon-a bit pricy

Someone has big hopes for this but I think there's one too many zeros in the price.  It is cute but not that cute, in my opinion.

Yeah, I've been lookin' at this one, and planning my move, but now that I know it's not worth it, they can just count me out. Hahaha.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

they are depending on the fact that it came from the defunct Abacrombi & Fitch a rich man's toy store for the collectors value....

A very interesting piece, and looks as its in a great condition. A bit pricy, oh yes, but i am sure the the seller will sell at asking price.
At least here in Scandinavia there are plenty of rich collectors.. Iˋm not one of them.. But then againg, I can build my own, and to me thats more worth than beeing rich.. ;)

The buyer for this at the current price would be just a slightly scarcer type than just rich; must be rich AND stupid.

That being said he should have no problem selling it at all  :o
Dixie used to sell a much simplified sun dial cannon looked like some fun .

The Abercrombie and Fitch model is nice, but way out of my price range.  It still appears to be authentic though.

However, there's a second sundial cannon for sale right now on EBay in the mid 4 figure range.  It is fairly crude, but to my eye, it looks faked.

It's supposed to have been out in the weather.  OK, I can buy that, but if one looks at the gnomen  (wedge shape fin) that tells the time, it is all corroded.  However the screws and the surrounding screw holes are simply too clean and well defined.   Judging from the weathering of the limestone base, those screws and screw slots should have been totally corroded over with gunk.  They are simply too clean and crisp.

Also, stylistically, none of the components seem to match.   What they are calling "Rococo" which is the fancy decorative dresser drawer pull stuck on the side looks totally out of place. Personally, I think  this thing looks like somebody simply took some old pieces of this and that--put them together and simply faked some of the aging.

IMHO, It might be worth $50 just to stick on a pedestal  in the garden, But otherwise, it's a piece of crap.

Of course that's just my opinion and you know what your proctologist says about opinions.

Cheers

Agree, ugly piece of cobbled-together junk, unevenly treated with chemicals for an unrealistic patina.
