Ordered some brass
« on: January 14, 2013, 04:05:20 PM »
357 Max and 444.  They went out of "stock, no backorder" with one supplier so I checked around and Cabela's had some.  These are two of a few Handies I haven't loaded for or shot yet but I wanted to be ready to do so when I get around to it!   ;)

Ya see, as part of my pre-retirement plan, a while back I went on a mission to get every caliber Handi I wanted.  Heck, I got into such a buyin frenzy I got some I didn't even want!   ::)  I guess I went on a Handiholic binge.   :-[

But I'm back on the wagon...  I got everything I want...  'cept maybe a 28 ga. barrel to go on that SB1 frame the 357 Max came on...  :-\  OH! and a 17 cal something to re-chamber to a 17 hornet!   :o  That would really be cool!   :P  And I do have that extra 30-30 barrel that needs rechambering to 30-40...  :-\  Shoot!   ::)  for that matter I got that extra 280 barrel that'll only be good for a 9.3x63 and I want a 9.3x74R!   ::)  Then there's the 5 receivers I got sittin in the safe... gotta figure out what Ima gonna do with... with...  ???  HEP ME BOYS!!!  HEP ME!!   :'(

You just didn't know you wanted them until you got them.  Prepping for retirement is a good thing ;D

I can help you scratch off the 28Ga.  There's one for sale right now in the classifieds.

Can't help with your compulsive obsessive urges to buy all those Handi's.   :-[ I think I might also be afflicted. :P ;D

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

At my age, I think I've now got all the Handis I want.....in fact, all the guns I want.  I still have a letch for a .32-20 single six and that last one may just happen.  I'm out of space and want to use the guns I have.  I've got no interest in a bunch of closet queens and only so much time in a day.  I'll just upgrade what I have...better scopes, mounts, stocks, etc.

Actually Pete, I'll help you out with that also!  In fact, you won't even have to send them..... I'll pick them up!  :)  Richard, I could say the same thing, all those Handi's that you bought that you didn't want at the time, you can leave with me.  What are friends for if not to help out!  Ha ha.
Actually, I'm also at the point where I'm pretty happy with the guns I have. (Richard, I'm already retired)  :)  I do have a couple things to change yet; sell a revolver and pick up another .45 auto.  But other than that, the only other rifle I still need is a single shot 30-06!  So when I sell the Freedom Arms, I'll pick up the .45, my Savage 219 30-30, and a 30-06!  I'm not even fussy on that one whether it's a Handi or one of the Remington SR18's.  (just curious about those, I'm sure it will be another Handi)  Of course I need another 30-30 so I can make mine into an AI.  Oh! There's also this little 250 Savage......    Hmmmm, it just doesn't seem to stop, does it Richard!  44 Man

Nope, show don't do it...  :-\  Ya know, guns is like wimmins!  Every time I think my skirt chasin days are over some sweet young thang walks by...  :P  It's the same with guns.  Just when I think my gun buying days are over, the desire for something new hits me...  :-[

Now, Kathie believes there ain't no dog like an old dog and she keeps me on a pretty tight rein, so I don't run after young wimmins anymore.   :(  But she never argues when I want to buy a gun.  Pretty good trade off I think!   ;D

Please don't tell her, but nowadays I'd rather play with my guns and such then chase young wimmins anyway...  ::)  They run a lot faster then they did 40 years ago...  :'(

Richard, I once talked to a young thing that came into the motorcycle dealership I worked at.  Her husband really, really, really wanted a motorcycle and when he asked her to come and look with him, she crossed her arms and said 'don't even think about it, you don't need one of those things'!  So I kind of silded up to her and said 'Honey, you are young and haven't been married a lot of years so I will share this with you.  Now what you need to remember is that men will have affairs or toys.' 'It's your choice which.' and I still feel that applies.  Your wife is a wise woman.  44 Man

Hardware is just another way of sayin; 'bikes' or 'guns'...... ;)
Ive noticed thru the years that a wife who keeps sayin no to them often ends up lookin' for another man to boss around.
Now my wife, when I show her a new potential piece of hardware, usually says,"get it!"; she is not the epitome of restraint......thats hard on the wallet but long on years  ;D

I tell myself that I have a gun that will do anything I might need and some are very overlapped. Every time I think I am done, another idea pops into my head. My wife asks me how many guns I can shoot at once, but even last week we were in a local store and I was window shopping, she says buy it. I have been married for 38+ years. Never had an affair, 2 kids and lots of boy toys, including motorcycles, boats, tools of all kinds and the fore mentioned guns. I have to agree with 44man and gcrank1, toys keep you distracted and from looking over the fence. Thank goodness I got a woman that understands.

Good Luck to you Richard and Good Shooting

Every time I come up with a light, short, fast swinging Handi I hear "That looks like a "Patty Rifle."  Next thing ya know there's two of them.  It's a heck of a lot better than the alternative ;)   We had our 23rd this past Monday.  It's not the first go round for either of us.  It took me almost 50 years of my life to find this Lady.

My wife knows how I am when she came home and I had a Ultra Classic sittin in the driveway. All she said was," is that rear seat only mine"? Yes ma'am it is I said. She went on in the house after that. Took her out to dinner and a ride 30min later. One day she's gonna find out how many guns I really have. Them I'll be in deep water. Hehehe.

I just remember what Ray Stevens said to Ralph Emory one time/  Ralph said 'Ray, I heard you got a divorce...... 'again'."  Ray answered; "Yes Ralph, I did.  But I'm never going to get married again.  I'm just going to go out about every 10 years, find a woman I just can't stand, and buy her a house."
I remember giving away a couple of houses......  Of course it's like the coach always said. "You just keep runnin' that play until you get it right."  :)  44 Man
