The meaning of.

What is the reason/meaning of the US Flag displayed in the Office of elected officials?
What is the point of Life if you can't have fun.

the u.s. code says  the flag should be
displayed on or near the main administration
building of public institutions.
(or something close to that)
i would say that it is symbolic of their
station as a public official and a citizen of
the united states, and is supposed show
their respect for said office and for the citizens
they are supposed to represent.

judging from the behavior of some of them
in the 21st century, i'm sure that they are
indifferent as to the flag being a united states flag,
or a dirty bath towel in their office.

What then in your opinion is the reason/meaning of another country's flag being displayed in such a setting?

displaying another flag is common at sporting events such as baseball, nascar, olympics, etc.  but I wouldn't want in public buildings.  plus I see no need for it.

To be more specific.

What would be your reaction to see that an elected federal politician displays routinely another flag of a foreign country in his office.
What is the point of Life if you can't have fun.

it might be ok if a meeting was to take place with visitors from the other country and the flag was displayed only for the event and lower than the American flag.
As a side , If I remember correctly the only flag that can /should be flown higher than the US flag is a religious flag at a religious event .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I'll start with the one that I saw some time ago. I believe this was a Congress critter named Mendez( or similar)  which had the Mexican flag displayed. W H A T ?? Are you a US Congressman or are you a Mexican Politician??

Now I going to the one I had me dropping my jaw.
The individual is Senator Ran Paul who displays a flag of the same size as the US flag from Israel in what I presume was his Office.

I don't consider the present Govt.of Israel a friend which puts me at odds with the majority here.

To see a US Senator fly this flag or any foreign one in his Office is appalling to me.

Is the Senator a dual citizen?

Has he dual loyalties and gave an Oath of Alligence to a foreign entity?

If so he needs to make up his mind.

Either be a US Senator with your loyalties in line with the Oath of Office you rendered, or you need to resign.

BTW I would be outraged if he, or for that matter, any  US official displayed any other countries flag unless required for diplomatic reasons.

I have no problem with the display of the State flag he represents.

I read it on a list of flag do's and don't no mention was made of the Navy. But considering the high esteem God and religion was held to by those who created the flag it dosen't suprise me.

This display could actualy be a show of support for Israel from a 'religeous' point of view.
Many of us that are believers know that our 'roots', if you will, are based in Israel.
Jesus the Christ is a Jew. Part of living a life as a believer is to honor Israel.
We actualy have a flag of Israel displayed in our church along side the Christian flag. Both of which are displayed over the speakers left shoulder and lower than the American flag.
I take no offense in Paul's display of the Israel flag as long as it is not displayed higher than or to the American's flag right. Now as for the mexican flag in Mendez's office ? Again, as long as it is not to the American's flag right or higher than it. If the mexican flag is all he has in there. He better get is loyalties straight.

In case of Mendez you just need to hear his views on immigration and the Dream Act.

No flag in any US office should be larger or fly higher than the US  flag..

That being said, remember this flag in Obama's Houston campaign office?  Here it is, with a sequel for the obama supporters:
BTW; where's the stars & stripes in that office?

About three years ago I started into an industrial building to do some repairs.  As I exited my van, I saw three flags flying.  One was an Israeli flag, one American, the other the state of Ga.   All were flying at the same height.

I was noticed from inside as I made the necessary adjustments, lowering both the Israeli flag, and the state flag to the same height, and leaving the American flag noticeably higher.

It was not appreciated, but I informed them that if we were in Israel, I would expect the opposite but we are not.  I'm sure they put them back after I left but I just had to make a statement.

Also several years ago, when my SIL was still a major, we went into a convenience store.  A man there, kinda "hippy" looking for want of a better term, had a real honest to God flag tied around his head as a do rag.  My SIL made him remove it, at the threat of removing it for him.  I guess the green beret influenced his decision to hand it over, along with all the multiple battle ribbons from the dress uniform SIL was wearing.

Sometimes we need to speak up more....lots of this stuff goes on because we tolerate it.

When we were in flags and public events, I always made my scouts salute soldiers in uniform and police on duty.  Just to make them aware that some put themselves in danger for others.
