Since I put flavored creamer in my coffee, and coke with my whiskey, I don't even come close to buying the best. Store brand coffee, and cheap whiskey. Both do what they are suppose to do!! :) gypsyman

I start the day off with Yuban dark roast. At least one pot!

Back when...during my honeymoon in Costa Rica I had the best freakin cup of coffee in the know universe at the resort we were staying.  It was from a small local grower that doesn't export.  Id pay I dont even know much for another cup of that stuff.....

Now, I am a certified coffee addict. I drink it when I can't go to sleep (there is truth in that statement folks.)
Sometime a cup of coffee just hits the spot---especially good.
I don't know about the source/sources or what is in it, where it comes from or what witchcrat it goes thru to become coffee---I like it in a mug and hot.
I evenused to like that ol home brew dark roast with chickory Community.
Blessings
That's strange since it has caffeine, but I've noticed that my first cup in the morning makes my eyes kinda heavy.  any ideas why it affects us like that??

Even meth works like that sometimes. Docs call it a "paradoxical reaction." Long time tweakers will tell you that every now and then, the meth will put them to sleep instead. That's why they give stimulants similar to meth to ADD and ADHD kids. They're counting on that reaction from the drugs.
If you give up, THEY don't have to win.

I think the secret to Waffle House is the coffee doesn't sit too long--it is always pretty fresh and they do wash dishes a lot ! :o
I don't know a thing about meth---interesting correlation.
On the cruise thru Europe last year that had a machine coffee that was available 24 hors a day. Since i drink a lot of coffee i used that machine a lot---it was always good and it tasted American.
You didn't have to pay to use it, just put a cup under the spout and push a button.
Some have heard this story--some have not---it is truth.
I am gonna keep out the how and why of being there for the sake of brevity.
I ended up one mornig about 6am walking off a crew boat out of Houma, Luzziana---back in the SWAMPS ---onto a drilling rig. This was 1967ish.
The guy in charge asked me if I wanted a cup of coffee---YES, well it was more a yes--PLEASE.
He made that coffee from a bucket dipped in the swamp, poured in a pan and and a hadful of Community dark roast. Kept me awake for two days.
Folks the water from that swamp had a green skim on top.
Blessings

green skim , better than an oil slick .  ;D
I worked for a guy that would bring us lunch , one day while working on a prision he came by with lunch , had corn on his pu. Got a big pot ( 8-10 gal. pot) filled it with water out the James River (not the cleanest river) and cooked a ton of corn. It was good and killed no one  :o  guess boiling did work .

ha-ha!
that sounds like that deer camp stew,
where you can just barely see by the fire
light or lantern light, but that's ok cuz you
don't want to see the bugs that land in the stew
or the deer hair that makes it into the pot,
or the dirt and grime clinging to the spoon
the cook stirred it with or the cleanliness
of the pot to begin with . . . . .
(you get the idea)

William, in Louisiana, they are fond of Community coffee--- it's about 1o-20% burnt chickory, 'cause plain coffee ain't bitter enough for Cajuns.  ::)

Louisiana is one of my favorite day trips.
The coffee there has changed some over the years--even the Community has changed, Basically, it only takes one cup to get used to it and it has a good flavor.
I am just not into all this fancy stuff. I drink coffee because I really like the taste.
When I lived in N.O. we would have coffee every morning down in the Quarter at Morning Call and watch the fat man shuck oysters.
Lots of good stories about South Luzziana.
Used to watch the PO-lice shoot nutria at nigh with .22's along the levee's.
Those are some good folks down there.
Blessings

:)  Howdy! I've had a many a cup of Community Coffee and Old Lousianne with Chicory. These days I use Folgers Classic or Columbian for my every day coffee. Usually straight with no cream or sugar. Once in awhile I order some Kona, Jamaica Blue Mountain, or Columbian Supreme in whole beans off the internet. These are great, but the Jamaica Blue Mountain is very expensive.

Good coffee is good coffee! All the flavored coffees give me heartburn. Likewise the flavored creamers, plus they're too sweet. The secret to Folger's, Maxwell House, etc. is to buy it in the smallest can you can find. It'll start to get really bitter a few days after you open it. There's nothing like grinding your own, though. Kroger has good beans, especially the Columbian and (sorry, guys!) Kenyan.  :)

I grew up between Beaumont & Houston and back then, "Seaport" coffee was seen more than Community. Just about every drilling rig I moved or worked on the favorite was Folgers. I carried Seaport in my thermos because most guys didn't like it, and no, I'm not inhospitable, there was just a lot of mooches where I was at, ha.

Don't start grinding your own and fresh brewing.
If you do you'll never be able to go back,
you'll become a coffee snob
and you'll start to crave better beans.

...................where's my grinder?

added:

Thumbs up on the Kenyan mentioned.
Another really good bean is a good Guatamalan estate.
