Any public school teachers here?
« on: January 16, 2013, 07:55:42 AM »
If there are teachers here, I am curious as to what your reaction is to this propagandizing effort by a school in Chicago.  Shown are young children doing a concert  designed to praise Barack Hussein Obama.  This includes a  chorus, orchestra and moderator... comparable to a production of "Handel's Messiah"!

Are you entirely OK with that ?

If singing a song is so mind altering- we should have the students sing all their lessons. America would be filled with geniuses.

It's sure easy to spot the liberals.   I wonder why they're at a website where people own guns and like to hunt and fish?

I know a lot of teachers. All are left leaning, and all vote the way the teachers union tells them to. And all believe anything republican or conservative is inherently evil. This is from a sample of about 300.

I'm a teacher in a public vo-tech school.
I don't vote the way any union told me too.
Matter of fact there aren't any in my school who vote the way the union tells them to.
We are probably 85% conservatives at this school and most of the other vo-techs in this state.
So maybe, just maybe that "All" don't vote the way some union tells them too.

I live in a state where the current president didn't carry a single county in the entire state.

As for the side show in Chicago what would you expect there? you can't swing a dead cat in that town without some school administrator who is willing to suck up to our current president.

Kimber45, Yes. Really. It is no exaggeration. It's based on 20+year relationships. I am not including any acquaintances I do not know well.

Minnesota is a socialist state. Teachers, farmers, miners, and government workers make up a huge constituency in this state and they drive public policy here.

Yep - teaches being as uneducated as they are; certainly wouldn't be able to think for themselves. Now take your classic high school drop out - there's a deep , free thinker.  But here is an interesting question - when a dictator takes over a country - why are the most educated, mainly teachers the ones put in prison ?

Exactly! In fact, across the board, the more educated the population, the more liberals there are--- anyplace, any time.

There's nothing surprising about that.  they think that they are superior to others and think that they should be controlling the unwashed masses.
one of my SILs is a retired teacher who used to talk to me like I was one of her 3rd grade students.
I finally had to tell her talk to me as an adult or shut up.
they think they're smarter which makes them (not all teachers) more obnoxious.

Just like anything else, education takes WORK. It takes time and money, too, but mostly it takes work. It also changes the way a person thinks--- education MAKES people think about more than just the obvious in any problem. Years ago, I worked as a communications field engineer. Back then, there were two kinds of technical maintenance people. The ones with minimal education repaired equipment by memory--- if they had seen that piece fail, they would try to fix it by replacing the same parts they replaced the last time. Since electronic equipment, like anything else tends to fail at the same design flaws in equipment, that worked for 60-75% of whatever they worked on. After they replaced the parts they remembered had failed before, however, they were lost if that did not work. The people who UNDERSTOOD the circuitry were always more educated. THOSE people could repair ANYTHING, if they had a schematic and parts diagram. The difference was education.

All of life is like that. Usually, educated people are not talking down to you; they're trying to teach you.

Oh, yeah--- sometimes a person might need more education themselves to understand what,s being explained. Complex problems almost never have simple solutions. Often clueless people can not even recognize that something IS a complex problem: look at the rightys and the economy!  ;) ;D ;D
If you give up, THEY don't have to win.

The political and religious philosophies of public school teachers reflect the political and religious philosophies of the state they're in...how hard is that to understand?

Here in Texas, most of us were/are conservatives.  I will admit that most of the teachers I know who are at the university level are liberal, Democrat, in outlook.  As a result,  many of the graduates from those universities start out that way, until they meet cold reality as opposed to university theory.

That's another righty truism: that educated people don't have practical common sense. MOST of them had to work hard, at real jobs to get to where they are, too. All anyone has to do to shatter that myth is look at pay scales relative to educational level.

Don't get me wrong, TRUE intelligence is essentially questioning EVERYTHING, even your teachers--- but they are usually right.

Question yourself.
Would you want your child to get a college education?
Doesn't sound like it from some of the discussion here.

Isn't it strange that the Government trusts teachers to be in charge of our children for most of their young lives. Trusts them to teach our children lessons they'll carry all of their lives. Butttttt, our Government doesn't trust the same teachers to protect our children thus schools are gun free zones! Typical Goverment logic!

nobody is saying that college isn't the thing to do,(even for doctors) but where do you get off talking down to those who don't have a degree.

  XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

That is because they are the ones who did the most to bring the dictator into power, and as soon as they catch on to the huge mistake they made..they become "reactionaries"..  too dangerous to the dictator's continuance..   Read the Communist history books almost invariably, the "reactionaries" are the first to go under the bus.  It happened in Russia, Cuba and perhaps you can recall the Chinese dictators sponsored  a "cultural revolution" when many of these same type people started to realize their mistake and became "reactionaries'..  Too often such people are not quite as "smart" as they think they are.  We see the same types still backing a tyrant "gun grabber", in spite of all the evidence to the contrary.
Kimber;  Here you are using an old liberal ploy; first you set up a "straw dog", comparing teachers to drop outs..  Not everyone outside academia are "dropouts', in fact those out in the real world may well have a much better perspective than those in academia.
Those in academia have for the most part, accrued a very narrow point of view.  At 5 years they went to kindergarten..then grammer school, middle school, high school then still more school in college.  Then, after all their young lives spent is one school or another..they check in to yet another school to make a living, often narrowing their associations to those of similar, confined experience...of academia ONLY.
Do they know what it is like to fix a furnace, shoe a horse, plant 6,000 acres of corn or run a 400 cow dairy and do everything involved in that business.  Have they ever gone hungry or thirsty, run a lathe or a CNC machine?  Have they ever worked at a job where they did back-breaking labor for 10-12 hours per day?  Have they ever butchered a beef or forged a knife?  How many have made the Marine "crucible" or Army's "jump school", or faced a determined enemy bent on killing them on a personal level?
Come to think of it..for the most part, their perspective is probably much more narrowly defined than most...even the "drop out"!

Teaching is a good profession but I think they over rate their education and experience when they start considering themselves to be above the "average Joe" out there..  Believe it or not..there is MUCH learning beyond the desk and marshboard..

For any teacher out there that doesn't fit this mold..good for you!
You already know the old adage.."If the shoe doesn't fit, you are surely not obliged to wear it!
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Ironglow, super post.  only you forgot Pol Pot, he killed the teachers and a lot of people because they looked like a teacher with their eye-glases.

the rest of the post was even better.  I chose the military and then Delta Airlines and made more money than K-12 teachers here in Ga.
some of the wisest people I've ever known didn't graduate high school.  and I'll take a bunch of good-ole-boys in a small town diner over a bunch of arrogant elitists any time.
And I still doubt that they own guns, they're here to try to show their "greater intellect" but they fail miserably.
