.410 Brass

Has any one used .410 solid brass ?
Does it have a standard shotgun primer
or rifle/pistol type primer? Thanks for

I use large rifle primers in mine.  The large shotgun firing pin will sometime pierce the pistol.  Bear in mind that if you use this you will not be able to use standard shotgun shot cups or wads.  The inside diameter is larger on the brass than the plastic cases.  I cut my own wads from felt and cork, use an overshot wad cut from a milk jug, and seal with hot glue.
 
I've loaded my cases (Magtec) about 5 times, and they still look great.  I don't resize, (nothing to resize the with).

with slug or buckshot.

Hi! I have used standard shot cups, By putting a wrap or two of masking or blue painters tape around the base of the shot cup. shot them in a  New England single shot 410 still do ! have also used circle  Fly wads and shot covers can see little difference other than the shot cups give tighter patterns  . hope this helps . PS they have wads and other components for all gauges of the brass shot shells .

I've always just fire-formed my own from 303 brit case's and used a thin layer of cardboard as over powder & shot wads , they shoot as well as the factory plastic rounds and last longer .

What powder do you use?  I've been loading with H110, but with a charge of powder, one over powder wad, 1/2 oz. of shot and an over shot card, I've not filled half the case.  I could almost load it in a 44 mag. case.
 
I'm thinking of trying Trailboss, primarily because I have a lot of it.

I would be using Trail Boss under a wax plug. No shot no slug.

Yep, the rifle primers will be fine.

Either TB or FFG black powder , both are bulky enough to give a nice even shot fill and not have a lot of excess case on the front end if you understand what I'm trying to say  I sometimes confusse myself .

like this site. I think I will try some FFG black
powder as suggested by stimpy. I have some I need to get rid of.
I like to experiment and try to be safe
