Model 158 in 44 mag?

So how rare/hard are thes to come by?  I may have a line on one but the guy is pretty proud of it.  Any thoughts on price?

This one looks a little "better" than that but that is by far a better price.  Thanks for the heads up.

The M158 44mag isn't listed as a factory option, it was offered as the M155 Shikari along with the 45-70. If the M158 has a factory matched barrel, it's an accessory barrel. Lots of M155 Shikaris made from 1973-'81.

Dont buy into a seller saying rare or collectable in the world of Handi's (or anything else for that matter).
44Mag is a current chambering and may even be more consistent and correct in chamber to bore/groove dimensions for trouble free reloading. I'd price out a new one and take that into consideration for anything used I might look at.

I've got a 158 Topper in 20 guage I bought in the mid 70's.  Sent the receiver back to H&R and had them fit a 44 Mag Shikari barrel
to it.  It is different from Shikari sold rifles in that the butt stock on mine is pistol grip which came on the 158.  The Shikari sold rifles
had straight grip butt stocks.  Most "FUN" gun I own.  Shoot clay birds one minute and my own cast 44 Mag loads the next.


Tim, please correct me if I'm wrong about the butt stock statements I made.

Yep, I have 2 .44 modern versions, one reamed to .445. The guy is way overpriced but I sure wouldn't tell him that.  Thanks for all the info guys.
