No, but I doubt it.
In the late 80's and early 90's S&W, Colt, and Davis were all on the ropes.
Handgun Control Incorperated spent more on lobbing than they could have to buy and close Colt, S&W, and Davis.
HCI is not aboout their stated goals but about raising money and having K street lobby firms.
If Sorros is actually buying gun companies then fine he can spend his money how he wants.  If he closes them other companies will increase production.  And we will see once again a lefty firing union workers.  We may also see other new companies sprout up to fill the void caused by the closing of the companies that Sorros buys.

I truely wouldn't want to put anything untrue up on any of the boards, but I have to say I've never been happier to hear that the topic at hand is BS, that was one scary article to initially read.   J

One thing has bothered me for the last few years.  Marlin bought up NEF, then Remington bought Marlin.  Now I understand some big conglomirate has bought them.  My fear is that most of the gun manf, will be bought up by a corperation, that Corp will fold and all the manufactoring facilities will be shuttered.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

After the Sandy Hook shootings the big conglomirate as you call them (Freedom Group which is owned (94%) by Cerberus   Capital Management) has chosen to sell off their holdings.
Not sure if any of it has happened yet and if it has, who has bought them up.
They own Remington, Marlin, H&R, Bushmaster, Dyncorp, DPMS/Panther Arms, Dakota Arms, TC, S&K, Advanced Armament Corporation, Barnes Bullets, The Parker Gun Co., Mountain Khakis, Para™ USA, TAPCO,  IAP Worldwide Services along with possible others.

The Freedom Group does not own the Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation or Strum Ruger, nor does it own Colt, Winchester or Browning.

I hope not SD.
There's still a huge market for firearms. I can't see anyone taking that big of a financial bath on an investment that's paying off right now. But who knows.

So the initial link I posted WASN'T BS completely? Freedom group does own those companies and Cerebus does own Freedom group. Only part missing is the George Soros connection? Having all those eggs in one basket indeed does sound like a recipe for future problems.. :-\

S&W owns TC. They bought them when S&W decided they wanted to get into the rifle market.

Yes Cerberus owns a lot of gun makers and related businesses but not Soros. He has zip to do with them. I have also seen a report that Cerberus is wanting to dump the Freedom Group. Dunno if there is any truth to it but for sure they haven't sold it off yet as they just haven't had enough time. My guess is no one is gonna buy the Freedom Group but the companies will be sold off individually.

Cerberus is trying to get Fabrique National (FN) or the German company HK to buy them.  FN owns Browning and Winchester.  They have owned Brownings for years and are headquarted in Belgium.  HK is a big company that makes military arms and handguns.  FN built a Winchester factory in South Carolina.  I think Cerberus first said they wanted to dump the "Bushmaster" brand for political reasons.  However, they own DPMS which is essentially the same thing, and DPMS makes the Remington AR's.  I think they would keep the Remy brand just because almost everyone in the country owns a Remi shotgun either pump or auto.  They have a "sporting" reputation.  Lots of Remi 700's out there two.  Marlin is also a good "brand" as they make "cowboy" guns.

Anyone with a CNC machine can make an AR receiver, so they won't be going away.  One can also "rent" a machine and make one for THEIR OWN USE ONLY without a serial number or registration.  However, they can NEVER sell it to anyone.  This is happening now.
